Important Information
Greetings BES families,
Last week was a fun week at BES. Students and staff alike enjoyed our 100th day of school on Tuesday and dressed the part. Pictured at left are two of our 100 year olds. We also supported our favorite teams in advance of the Super Bowl and dressed in sports gear Friday.
Students also worked very hard on our mid year assessments, and are showing great progress thus far. You should expect results home this month.
Children attended a Science assembly Friday courtesy of our generous PTO and enjoyed learning about chemical reactions and things that go Spin, Pop and Boom- the title of our assembly. We are so happy assemblies are back this year!
The Grandparents' Dinner is tonight, February 12th. We are very much looking forward to this event! Please see the following event parking plan to ensure a smooth entrance and exit: Parking for the first seating at 5 PM will be at the front of the school in the main parking lot. Handicapped attendees may be dropped off at the front door and Officer Mark will be directing traffic. Parking for the second seating at 6:30 PM will be in the side lot off Harrison Lane. Please enter via the gate, there will be designated handicapped spots by the side door, and an officer will direct you.
Parent Conferences are scheduled for this week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and you should have received an email invitation to sign up from your child's teacher. Please make every effort to be on time so we may honor our appointments in a timely manner. These are Early Dismissal days (12:55).
*In the event of a delayed opening tomorrow, conferences will be cancelled and we will have our normal Tues. dismissal at 3:15. Also, if school is cancelled, so are conferences. The snow date for tomorrow's conferences would be Thursday, Feb. 22. We will update you as needed.
This week is Fancy Dress Up Valentines Day on Wednesday!
When EdAdvance opens up their registration for afterschool care for next year, they will also be offering before school care. The before school care will run from 7:00 to 8:15 AM. For those who live in Bethlehem or attend BES, there will be a bus that will transport students from MES to BES. Please look for the flyers that EdAdvance will be sending out soon.
As a continued reminder, our drop off line in the mornings has been quite long and a little slower. We want to assist with getting everyone in on time. We ask that you please have your children ready (coats on, backpacks set) to exit your vehicle. We also have ample staff outside to assist your child/children for you in exiting the vehicles safely in order to expedite the line. Please remember this is the only drop off area in the morning prior to 8:25. No drop offs should be ocurring in the parking lot unless children are truly tardy and staff has gone into the building for safety purposes, and the handicapped spots must not be used without permit or blocked. Children will not be marked tardy if they were in the drop off line. Also, please remember to be good neighbors and not block driveways on East St. Thank you so much!
The BES Talent Show will be on April 4, 2024! Students in grades 3-5 are invited to audition the third week of February. A flyer was sent home with guidelines. Solo performers and groups of no more than ten are welcome to audition and begin thinking about this!
As always, if you have any concerns or comments please feel free to contact me directly at wyatsenick@ctreg14.org
