Even though it was only a four-day school week, it was certainly full of activities, in and out of the classroom and building!

In the halls, we were fortunate to host middle school students as they toured the building with student leaders and school counselors.
Outside, some members from our track and field team competed at the state meet last weekend in Pelham. Despite less than ideal conditions, our Cougars competed hard! We then kicked off the week Tuesday with the varsity tennis team competing in the preliminary round of the state tournament. I was grateful to swing by Adams Park to see our Cougars in action!
Later that evening was the spring performance at ConVal High School. Students in the chorus ensembles and bands performed outside. It was truly a varied repertoire of music! My son clapped and danced as our students showcased their talents.
On Wednesday, our softball and both lacrosse teams competed in the preliminary rounds of their respective state tournaments. Our baseball team competed in their preliminary round on Thursday. Below you will find more information regarding which teams are advancing and when the games will be.
Please note that there are many upcoming important dates. Next week is a very special week for our seniors that will culminate in graduation one week from today at 6:00 pm.
We will host many events outside next week, and it is slated to be quite warm. Please consider bringing water. I look forward to seeing our underclassmen next week and celebrating our seniors during multiple events!

Please Return Chromebooks, Hotspots, Library and Classroom Materials
With the end of a very eventful school year fast approaching, the members of the Library, Integration, and Technology Services (LITS) team would like to remind students of the need to return all borrowed items — library books, classroom materials, district-issued Chromebooks, hotspots, and ATC-issued laptops. Please return all materials as soon as possible. The library will accept returns between now and the last day of school.
Summer Offerings
ConVal is offering a unique opportunity for Summer 2021. We are offering graduation requirement courses with a focus on hands-on, project-based assignments. Class sizes will be small, and students will benefit from more 1-to-1 time with teachers. Students will also have opportunities to be outside.
Here are the logistics:
Who: Students who struggled during the school year or who want to get a head start on the upcoming school year.
Where: CVHS
When: July 6 - August 5, 2021; Session 1 will run from 8-10 AM, and Session 2 will run from 10:15 AM-12:15 PM. Summer Boost will run Monday-Thursday, with the exception of the first week, which will start on a Tuesday.
How: Transportation and meals will be provided. Students will register for one or two sessions based on their needs.
Classes are free and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Students may earn up to a full credit for each class; classes that are double session will allow the opportunity to earn 2 credits. Please use this link to register for classes.
German 2 Class Works With German Singer-Songwriter
Students in Frau Concannon’s German 2 class had the opportunity to participate in a songwriting workshop with Antje Dovekot recently. The class worked with the singer-songwriter over Zoom during their first meeting on June 2.
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, Dovekot holds three top songwriting awards, including the Kerrville New Folk Competition’s Best New Folk Award, Boston Music Award for Outstanding Folk Act, and Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
The students worked in groups to create lyrics for a song about food, their current unit in German 2. Three verses of the new song were nearly complete at the end of their first meeting. The second session on June 8 will finalize the song that Dovekot will record in her studio.
Horatio Alger Scholarship Applications Now Open
The application for the Horatio Alger Association scholarship is now open to students who are currently enrolled or will enroll at a community college/technical center in pursuit of a technical degree. Applicants may apply online at CTE Program Information with a priority deadline of June 30. This program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. There are up to 500 awards of up to $2,500 available!
Careers in Education I
Students in Careers in Education I created models of preschool classrooms. They used the NH Early Learning Standards and the (NAEYC) - National Association for the Education Standards for Initial Professional Preparation to guide their designs. See photos below.
Athletic Information
Good luck to members of our track and field team who will compete this weekend at the meet of champions that will take place at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston. We also wish luck to the girls lacrosse and baseball teams as they play in the quarterfinal round of their state tournaments on Saturday.
The girls lacrosse team will play a 3:00 pm game at Pembroke, and the baseball will play a 4:00 pm game against the winner of the Hanover-John Stark game.
