Back to School Prayer
God of wisdom and might,
we praise you for the wonder of our being,
for mind, body and spirit.
Be with our children as they begin
a new school year.
Bless them and their teachers and staff.
Give the strength and grace as their bodies grow;
wisdom and knowledge to their minds
as they search for understanding;
and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
From The Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Newsletter Aug. 25th
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I wish to welcome new parents to All Souls and extend a warm welcome to all those parents returning to All Souls. We are all looking forward to another wonderful year.
Over the summer break we were able to replace the new roof, and within the next month the solar panels will be attached to the roof of the school and the church.
I hope that your children have settled into the new school year. If there are any questions about anything please contact your child's homeroom teacher. We are now using SchoolSpeak, the new school information system. If you have any questions about the new system please contact the staff at the school office.
We are very delighted to be offering Rosetta Stone as our foundation for Spanish instruction. All children will have their own log in information for this program. So far, the students have enjoyed the new program which is a self paced online learning tool. We have a Spanish teacher who will be working with the students on this program.
We are also going ahead with Blended Learning in the math and language areas. This will mean that students will be supplementing their curriculum on the computer with various curricula programs. The staff trialed various programs last year and have divided upon i-Ready for grades K - 4 and Achieve3000 for grades 5- 8. Use of Accelerated Reader will continue along with the introduction of Accelerated Math.
I would ask you to read the Parent/Student Handbook and pay special attention to the highlighted sections, especially with the school hair guidelines.
Regarding the parking lot, please ensure you drive slowly on the campus grounds. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons please come to the school a little later as the gates will not be unlocked until 2:55pm due to P.E. instruction on the lower yard. Thank you for your cooperation.
The K-4 Back-to-School Night is on August 31st at 7pm in the parish hall under the church. It is expected that all parents will attend this important evening. If you are unable to attend you would need to contact the homeroom teacher.
Free and reduced lunch applications are now available and located on the school website. Please complete these as soon as possible so that you will be considered for the program. A new application needs to be submitted each school year.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
Principal
