How To Register For an Event in SchooLinks
Log into your SchooLinks account.
From your Dashboard, click on the tab at the top titled School Events. You will then see a chronological list of all events happening in our building.
Select the event you’d like to register for. Once selected, you will click on the button that says Register For This Event.
Once you register for an event, the button should change and you should see a Reminders tab appear at the top. Here, you can see all the events you are registered for. And, of course, you can still click on an event to see the info popup once again.
As a reminder, only students are able to register for these College & Military Visits.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Wheatland Farm Volunteer Opportunity
We would be thrilled to welcome interested high school students from all schools to our next Volunteer Training Event on Monday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Wheatland Farm. Whether they have prior experience with horses or not, we offer comprehensive training that equips volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute effectively. Our program operates Monday - Saturday, from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., which can accommodate various schedules. Our training event is one hour long, followed by dessert and fellowship.

Career Conversations
As we schedule our programming in the Career Center for this school year, I plan to highlight one or two careers per month with speakers from our parent community.
I'm looking for 10 - 12 Independence High School parents who would be interested in spending 45 minutes - 1 hour discussing your careers, the pros and cons of your roles, and what types of skills / education are necessary. Please send me an email if you're interested, and can work out specific dates, times, and presentation information.
Delta G.E.M.S. Educational Program
Please see the attached announcement from the chapter president to better understand the Delta G.E.M.S. program and apply by the deadline, Friday, September 22nd.
United States Senate Youth Program Scholarships
VDOE will select two student delegates to represent Virginia in the 62nd Annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) sponsored by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. Each delegate will receive a $10,000 scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for Washington Week March 2-9, 2024. Qualified public and private high school Juniors and Seniors may submit an application using the Online Student Application Portal. All completed applications must be submitted and timestamped by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023. Additional resources are available on the VDOE website.
