It's almost time! This will be an outside event! We will have 2021 Cass County Fair Awards available for pick up after the Achievement Program! Any left over county and or state fair exhibits NEED to be picked up also....AND if you did not pick up your premiums from fair they will also be available! See you there!

This is a time for teams to come (or those interested in forming an FLL team), learn from other teams, sharpen their building, coding, & project researching skills. Most teams will be there the whole time, but anyone can drop by, watch, and ask questions.

Participants come from Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming to compete in the National Western Stock Show’s longest-running program of practical beef cattle management. In just over 80 years the Catch-A-Calf Contest has awarded nearly 3,000 steers to 4-H members hailing from the western United States.

The University of Nebraska—Extension 4-H Youth Development and Department of Animal Science are accepting applications for the Nebraska 4-H Fed Steer Challenge 2022. Applications are due by December 1, 2021.

The Fed Steer Challenge is a contest/educational opportunity for youth with a desire to become the next generation of leaders in the Nebraska Cattle Industry. The goal is to enhance the educational value of the traditional 4-H Market Beef project by rewarding production merit and carcass value of the market animal, along with accurate and complete record-keeping, industry knowledge, and producer engagement by the 4-H member.

Recognition and awards will be based upon:

• Carcass Merit and Carcass value
• Record book
• Project Presentation
• Interview with representatives from the cattle industry

You’ve put in the work, now we’re giving back. Purina® is excited to announce the 2022 Giving Greatness Scholarship for graduating high school seniors! One winner from five categories will be awarded a $2,000 educational scholarship. The five categories include: show cattle, show swine, show sheep or goat, show poultry and show rabbit. Application requirements:

• College enrollment verification
• Written essay questions
• Letter of recommendation
• To be considered, you must currently feed, or have fed within the last year, Purina® feed and/or High Octane® Supplements to your show animal(s).

The deadline to apply is November 8, 2021. Scholarship recipients will be notified by January 3, 2021.
