Wildcat Weekly
December 19, 2022
Hello Wildcat Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you doing well and getting ready for the holidays! It's hard to believe we are wrapping up 2022. The school has been filled with energy and enthusiasm as the teachers and students work hard to wrap up their current units while also enjoying the many holiday activities taking place throughout the school.
Thank you to the 100+ parent volunteers that came out for our holiday workshop on December 9th. This was my first experience with the holiday workshop since being at WTE and I was even more impressed than I expected. Providing all of our students with the opportunity to create special gifts for loved ones was something special to see. I would especially like to thank Shannon Lisa for her hard work coordinating this massive undertaking, even though she made it look easy!
School is closed December 23rd through January 2nd. We will welcome students back to school in the new year on Tuesday, January 3rd. Enjoy the winter break with your loved ones and I will see you next year! Happy Holidays!

Power Paws
Congratulations to all of our power paw winners pictured below from the last two weeks. These students were selected by their teachers for best representing what it means to be a wildcat by going above and beyond to be safe, respectful, responsible and kind. Great job students!
Buddy Activity
Each classroom K-5 has been assigned a "buddy class" whom they meet with monthly to engage in various activities throughout the year. For December, our buddy classes met together to read the book, The Winter Candle. Although it outlines a few winter holidays that involve candles, the central theme of the book is helping others and strengthening community. Following the read aloud, the student buddies worked together to share different ways that they recently helped someone in their communities. Some of our buddies are pictured below!
WCASD Parent Training Series

💲 Activity Fee
The West Chester Area School District has a tradition of offering high-quality extra-curricular programs for students. To support the costs of these programs, an Activity Fee is applied to extra-curricular programs supervised by a contracted coach, advisor, or director. This yearly fee allows a student to participate in one or multiple funded activities, and the maximum amount a family may pay per year is $250. At the elementary level, the activities that require payment of an activity fee for the year are intramurals, chorus, orchestra, and band. Please see the attached letter for additional details and payment information. Payment should not be made until your son or daughter is rostered for the given activity during the school year.
