Dear AISB Families,
Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! The AISB Board of Directors and I are thrilled to welcome our students, parents and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year as we are “Anchored in Achievement” at AISB!
School will reopen for all our families as scheduled on Thursday August 24, 2023 at 7:45 AM. The AISB office has been open daily from 07:15 to 16:00 for returning families and those interested in applying for admission. There is also a limited supply of school supplies in the school store for parents to purchase including uniforms.
Our incredible team of educators has worked hard throughout the summer, been in school for the past weeks in workshops and to prepare classrooms for the new school year. AISB is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student.
Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. The IB Learner Traits of “Thinker, Inquirer, Balanced, Open-minded, Caring, Knowledgeable, Communicator, Principled, and Reflective ” will continue to guide our mission to provide a rigorous and joyful inclusive school environment. Our overarching goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by belonging the class WhatsApp groups, our website and Facebook page.
We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school
Please consider joining our school PTA as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to this association and its operations. We seek volunteers to join Ms, Nsarhaza, and Ms. Rutabuzwa Marie-Paule and help us set up a functional PTA this year.
Please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook for AISB's policies, processes and procedures

If you have any questions about our rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or to discuss them with your child’s teacher. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. Also remember to sign the AISB Student-Parent Handbook at the end of the document.
