The teachers are back and getting their rooms ready for the school year. We are so excited to welcome back our families Monday night for Meet the Teacher. Please check the activity times for the evening. The PTO is bringing 2 food trucks to make dinner and dessert easy for you.

On our staggered start days, the Principals will be available from 9:15-9:30 in the cafeteria if you have any questions or if you need help in getting signed in to the Pikmykid app or Talking Points.

Staggered Start

Please make sure that you know your staggered start date for your student(s) to attend for their first day at Fairfield. Students in grades 1-4 will attend either the 15th or the 16th with all attending on the 17th.

Students entering Kindergarten will attend either the 15th, 16th or 17th for their first day - please call the main office to schedule which day your student will attend. All Kindergarteners will attend on the 18th.

Meet the Teacher - Monday August 14th.

We are going to do Meet the Teacher night a little differently this year. Please attend at your scheduled time. If you have students that overlap grade levels, plan to attend 4:30-5:45.

4:00- 5:00 : Kindergarten AM, 1st and 2nd graders

4:00 - 4:30: Scavenger Hunt

4:30-4:45: Homeroom for teacher presentation

4:45-5:00: Meet the Administration and Counselor in cafeteria

5:00-6:00: Kindergarten PM, 3rd and 4th graders

5:00-5:15: Homeroom for teacher presentation

5:15-5:45: Scavenger Hunt

5:45-6:00: Meet the Administration and Counselor in cafeteria

Food Service News

Pickerington Local School District offers breakfast and lunch daily in all buildings.

We provide well-balanced and nutritious meals that meet the requirements of the USDA. Fresh fruit and vegetables are offered every day.

Our menus, along with links for payments, applications for free and reduced meal benefits, and other information can be located on the PLSD website by clicking on “Services” and “Food Service”.

Meal Prices

Breakfast - $1.80

Lunch - Elementary and Middle School - $3.25

Lunch – Junior High and High School - $3.50 regular lunch / $3.75 for a premium lunch which is indicated on the menu

Ala Carte items are offered at various prices

Payment

Food service payments can be made at mypaymentsplus.com beginning August 1, 2023.

We also accept cash and checks made payable to “PLSD Food Service” in the kitchen. No change will be given and funds will be deposited into the student’s meal account.

Free and Reduced Meals

PLSD participates in the USDA National School Lunch Program. Parents/guardians can apply for free and reduced meals by completing an application which can be found on the PLSD website. Online applications will be available after August 1, 2023. Applications for free and reduced meals must be completed each school year.

Notification of eligibility determination is emailed from our point of sale system (Solana), or mailed to the parent/guardian stating if the application was approved for free, reduced, or denied.

Free – student may receive one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost

Reduced - breakfast is .30 and lunch is .40

Denied – application does not meet USDA eligibility requirements and meals are full pay

Talking points

We will be using Talking Points this year as our main form of communication from teachers, the office and with our weekly bulletins instead of Infinite Campus. This app will translate into many different languages if needed. Please click on the link below to get signed up.

In our ongoing efforts to enhance your children’s safety, we have decided to begin using the PikMyKid Dismissal Application. Throughout the country, it has been proven to simplify dismissal, reduce traffic congestion, and most importantly, improve overall safety. The unique features of PikMyKid allow you, as parents, to easily change pick up modes, quickly delegate to an alternate individual for pickup, change to an ‘After School’ program, and even schedule for future pickup mode, pickup individual, and after school programs. This app allows you to be in full control of your child’s dismissal and it gives us, the school, complete information regarding dismissal and the ability to acknowledge every change and to instantly check your child’s dismissal status should you have a question. We are very excited about this addition and know you will be too.
