Principal's Report - Phillip Reavis
Year in Review
I want to extend a sincere thanks to faculty/staff members, parents, community members, and other district employees who have contributed so much to make the 2014-2015 school year a tremendous success! Oakview continues to set itself apart as a leader in the district, state, and nation as we work together for student success. The school earned a grade of “A” on its state report card with an Excellent rating for general performance! The faculty, staff, and PTA worked together to organize events such as Culture Fest, Field Days, and the Hootenanny, to name just a few. PTA purchased additional iPads and supported innovative instruction through teacher mini-grants! Oakview was recognized as a Safe Kids Schools for the 10th consecutive year and received a Legacy School Award for its long term efforts related to school safety! These accomplishments could only happen through the joint efforts of everyone at the school! Thank you ALL!
Oakview Receives Healthy School Award
Congratulations to Oakview Elementary School! LiveWell Greenville has recognized Oakview for the third year as a school which is “making a healthy choice an easy choice” for students. As a 2015 award recipient, the school received $250 and a plaque. The funds will be applied toward expansion of the school’s health and wellness initiatives and the banner will hang in the school’s cafeteria.
Teacher Assignments for 2015-2016
Letters requesting a certain teacher for next year are not accepted. We ask that parents allow the school staff to make professional judgments with respect to student placements. Letters containing the following information will immediately be discarded: 1) naming a teacher, 2) requesting an experienced teacher or a new teacher, and 3) requesting that certain students be in the same/different classes (with the exception of twins, triplets, etc.). Thank you for supporting the process of teacher assignments as we work with the many students here at Oakview.
Summer Office Hours/Registration
We will keep summer office hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We are closed on Fridays. If you or someone you know needs to register a student for next year, please come by ASAP!! Information regarding registration can also be found on our web site.
PTA President's Report - Jean Scott
We did it, Oakview families! Thanks to your help, our PTA had "No Limits" to its success this school year. From the thousands of volunteer hours put in to the many thousands of dollars raised to support our school and its teachers, you all played a part! I am honored to have served as your PTA president and know that my successor, Celeste Blinston, will serve you well. Here's to a well-deserved summer break!
Incoming PTA President - Celeste Blinston
My name is Celeste Blinston, and I am looking forward to serving as your PTA President next school year. Our family has had a child at Oakview for the last six years and have enjoyed being part of such a fabulous school. Our oldest is "graduating" from OES and our youngest is a rising 4th grader. I have been involved in a variety of positions on the PTA and am eager to learn more about my new responsibilities. Thankfully, I will have Jean as a resource to lean on next year too. Enjoy your summer and please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance - cblinston@charter.net.
5th Grade Day - Tuesday, June 2
Plans are underway for this fun Oakview tradition! Each year our 5th graders celebrate the end of their elementary school career with a day full of fun. The homeroom classes will compete against each other in a talent show and outdoor games. They will come together to laugh, dance and remember all of the good times they have had at Oakview!
We would like to thank Lori Knoblauch for heading up sponsorships for 5th Grade Day. Without support from our business partners in the community, this day would not be possible. With our deepest gratitude, we would like to thank the following for their generous donations:
Harrison Orthodontics
Roto-Rooter
Master Kims Tae Kwon Do
Jazzercise
Reflections' Winners

Congratulations to Sarah Tervo, Christian Foggie and Brooke Fitz Gerald who were honored as State Level winners in Columbia on March 14 for the PTA Reflections contest!
Congratulations to all Oakview Reflections' winners and participants who were honored at a special Reflections Awards Ceremony at Oakview on April 16. Barbara Evers, a local author and the Reflections' judge for the Literature category, spoke briefly at the ceremony, encouraging kids to pursue their dreams. Also present at the Ceremony was Carol Beard, PTA state Vice President of Programs, who unveiled next years’ theme, Let Your Imagination Fly.
Now is the time to start creating projects for the 2015-2016 Reflections Competition! There are multiple categories in the PTA Reflections competition including Dance, Photography, Music, Film, Visual Arts and Literature. Any child from Oakview may enter as many times as they wish in multiple categories. We encourage all Oakview kids to start working on their projects over the summer so they can be ready to submit their projects in the fall.
