Reutter School Weekly Update
Week of September 6, 2023
Principal's Message
Reutter School Families:
I hope that you have enjoyed this summer and are looking forward to beginning the academic year at Caroline L. Reutter School.
It was wonderful to meet so many of our students and their families last Thursday during our Annual Open House. Thank you for stopping by to meet our main office staff and tour the school.
For both new and returning students, I look forward to an educationally rewarding upcoming school year. We have been working hard over the summer break to make the school a pleasant environment for your return.
Please look for our weekly email correspondence as the primary method of communication between the school and families. We will also communicate information about our school on a regular basis via "X" (formally Twitter) using #reutterrocks, Class Dojo, and the district website at www.franklintwpschools.org.
Please feel free to call or email with any questions that you may have regarding the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year.
Educationally Yours,
Mr. Peters
First Day of School - Wednesday, September 6
The first day of school is a full day. Dismissal time for students is at 2:10 pm. If you plan on picking up your child from school, please arrive to our school's main office by 2:00 PM with a photo ID.
Student Pictures
Individual and Homeroom Pictures will be taken for Reutter School students on Friday September 8.
CLR PTO Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held from September 12-15 during your child’s regularly scheduled library class time.
During the week, each child visits the Book Fair with their science/social studies class and makes their purchases. We have books for all ages, including adults!
The Book Fair will also be open during our Back to School Night on September 13 from 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM. (Parents/Guardians only)
You will be happily surprised at the varied selection and reasonable prices.
Thank you for your support!
Reutter School Back to School Night
Please join us for Back to School Night!
Wednesday, September 13
The evening will begin promptly at 6:00 PM with presentations by your child's homeroom teacher. Throughout the evening, you will be able to meet with your child's major subject teachers, the school's educational specialists, and related arts teachers.
Back to School Night is one of the more important events of the school year. We look forward to meeting many parents on this evening. This evening is designed for parents/guardians to meet with teachers; we kindly ask that you do not bring children to this event.
As with the past couple of years, Back to School Night will continue to be offered in a hybrid format; allowing parents to either attend in person or via a live, Google Meet session. Google Meet login information will be listed on each teacher's class-specific Google Classroom account.
Please mark your calendar to attend.
A Message from Mrs. Zorzi, School Nurse
Welcome back to school! All parents/guardians are reminded about some important information regarding medications, immunizations, and health concerns.
Sixth Grade Immunizations
All students entering the sixth grade (after their 11th birthday) are required to receive the following two immunizations prior to starting school on September 6th:
1.Tdap
2. Meningococcal
Please consult you child’s physician to schedule an appointment for you child to receive these immunizations prior to the start of the school year. It is important to send your child’s immunization’s record to the school nurse. Students will be excluded from school if they do not have their mandated immunizations.
Medical Concerns/Medications
If you child has any medical concerns or needs to take medications during the school day please contact the school nurse.
Please keep in mind that a doctor’s note is required every school year for any medications to be given in school.
Notes regarding Medical – Related Absences must be submitted to the school’s main office within one week of the child’s absence for the child to not be considered truant.
Food Allergies
We have several students in our school who have allergies to peanuts and other foods. Please be aware of this concern when sending in treats.
We look forward to a healthy and safe school year!!!
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Each day, the students who attend Reutter School journey to and from school in a multitude of ways—most ride buses, a few ride bikes or walk, and some ride in cars. Here at Reutter School, the administration and staff want to assure each child’s safety at all times, especially on arrival and dismissal from school. If your child rides a bus, we are aware of his or her transportation arrangements. However, if your child journeys home by car or walks, please provide a note to your child’s teacher indicating the way your child travels to and from school. If anyone other than a parent is picking up your child, please send in a letter authorizing the school to release your child to the designated party. Also, in order to keep district transportation on schedule, please arrive no later than 2:00 pm (by noon on single session days) in order to sign out your child at the end of the school day. Parents are reminded to bring their photo ID when picking up their child. Students are dismissed at 2:10 p.m. and will be sent home on the bus if their pick-up ride is not present by 2:10 p.m. (12:10 p.m. on single session days).
When parking in our school's parking lot, please only place your vehicle in lined parking spots. Placing vehicles in unlined (non-designated parking) locations, specifically in the driveway area/in front of the office, will not be permitted.
Please keep in mind the school opening time for Reutter School is 7:15 am and students will not be permitted to enter the school building prior to 7:15 am. All students are expected to arrive to school and be present in their homerooms on time. Students who are being dropped off by any means other than a school bus must enter through the main entrance door. We ask that students be dropped off between 7:15 am—7:27 am as our classes start promptly at 7:27 am. Students will be marked as “tardy” if they are not present in the school by 7:27 am. Parents DO NOT have to come into the school if their child is arriving late to school.
Thank you for understanding the safety precaution that requires parents to sign out students who depart school as “parent pick up” at the main office. This assures that an adult the child knows will escort the child through the school’s busy parking lot to a car safely.
If your child’s means of returning home temporarily or permanently changes, please provide a dated note to both the District Transportation Office and the Reutter School Main Office in advance of the change.
