Week in Review and Looking Ahead
Our School Site Council met on Wednesday afternoon to review student achievement data, and reappropriated excess funding for the tutoring program toward building out our MakerSpace STEAM Lab. We also welcomed the appointment of our newest SSC member, Mrs. Malik. She is filling the vacancy left behind by Mrs. Wilson, who is changing leadership roles on staff as our newest SDEA Union site representative.
One of the most important pieces of student achievement data we looked at was our chronic absenteeism rate. Historically our Average Daily Attendance was around 95% of students attending school every day. So far this year, that rate is down to 88%, which is the lowest in the Kearny Cluster. Our chronic absenteeism rate (students who've missed more than 10% of school days) is at 44%, which is actually an improvement over last year. Folks, it is so important for students to attend school. When you miss school, you miss out! For instance, 63% of students at Fletcher who are identified as "Chronically Absent" are also below grade level standards in reading.
To end the week, we held interviews for our newest evening custodian. Our selection will be announced in next week's flyer. Stay tuned.
Next week is SPIRIT WEEK! See the flyer below. We also have a MINIMUM DAY on Friday, the 16th. Winter Break starts a little earlier for our students. School will be dismissed at 12:00PM.
