Taking great notes is a key skill for student success, but knowing where to start can be tricky. In this week's Teacher Tip video, Kayla Towner shares her favorite note-taking strategies to engage K-12 students.

On this episode of Students In Focus, we'll showcase two films made by Utah's student filmmakers, highlighting their unique perspectives and artistic voices. We'll also hear from a University of Utah film graduate, currently working as an Associate Producer, who will share their journey from student to professional.

In this episode of UEN Homeroom, Dani and Matt delve into the relationship between digital technology and its usefulness in building curriculum. They will also discuss how technology is redefining educational experiences for students. Our hosts will hear from educators and experts from across Utah to gain their insight on this topic.

Educational animations can be an effective tool for both enhancing student understanding and demonstrating student learning. In this course, participants will learn how to integrate educational animations in the classroom. The course provides a series of readings, resources, links, and video tutorials that explain what educational animations are, why they are worth considering, and how to create and use them effectively. Animation tools that will be touched on in this course include: Adobe Express, Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, Adobe Animate, and Adobe Character Animator. This course requires access to two animation tools (Adobe Animate and Adobe Character Animator) that are not free for the general public. Many teachers who are currently teaching in Utah have access to a pre-paid Adobe account through their school district or charter school. It is highly recommended that current teachers contact their school district or charter school to find out if that is the case, and to find out how to access it. If you are not currently a public school teacher, you could pay for an Adobe Creative Cloud account or download free trials of Adobe Animate and Character Animator.

This course, along with many others, will run in our Spring B semester starting March 7th.

Through play, relationships, and instruction, preschool education provides children with an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge across all content areas. Teachers facilitate this development by guiding and empowering students through challenges. Through positive preschool experiences, children learn responsibility, persistence, citizenship, communication skills, reasoning, effective questioning, and more. The learning experiences provided in early childhood help children grow into well-rounded learners. The resources available in this hub are intended to support preschool educators in educating Utah's early learners.

The Utah Nearpod Community is back, and our first meet-up is February 8 at 3:30 p.m. on Zoom. No matter if you’re a Nearpod enthusiast, champion, or even just a run-of-the-mill Nearpodster, we want you to join us. We’ll chat about recent Nearpod updates before launching into a full-blown activity and lesson share. Bring your favorite Nearpod lessons and come prepared to grab a few from colleagues throughout the state. We’ll keep it quick and have a good time.
