A note from the Principal...
Dear Disney Families,
I hope this letter finds you relaxed and rested for the new school year! On behalf of our entire staff I’d like to welcome our new and returning students to Walt Disney Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. Our staff has worked diligently over the summer to plan lessons, prepare classrooms, and ensure we are ready for the start of the new school year. The building truly does look wonderful and welcoming and we are eager for all of our students to be a STAR this year. We hope the information below may address any questions you may have at this time.
At this point, your child should have received an email outlining who their teacher will be. Much thought goes into creating class lists and these were established before the end of the year with your child’s success in mind; thus, we will not be honoring teacher change requests at this time. Staff members will be available to answer questions and guide our students to where they will line up. We ask you check with a staff member outside before entering the office with questions.
The first day of school will be on Monday, August 28th. This day is a half day and we begin at 11:30. We will not serve lunch or snacks on this day. I’ve attached door assignments below so your child will know where to line up daily. Please know staff will also be out front and visible to direct students as necessary this week. School-Aged Child Care (SACC) is NOT available to registered families on this day.
To keep families abreast of Disney happenings, Behind the Magic at Disney will continue to be published weekly and emailed home on Sundays. A list of important August/September dates may be found below in the meantime.
In closing, please know the staff and I are here and look forward to partnering with you this year to ensure your child’s success! It is an honor and privilege to serve as your principal and I eagerly look forward to meeting each of you this year. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at any time!
Sincerely,
Amy Porter
Arrival & Dismissal Doors
Red Flag (In-Door Line Up)
When the red flag is hung outside the front of the building, this means indoor line-up. Our students will not line up at their normal door and will be able to enter the main doors at 8:20!
2023-2024 Classroom Supply Lists
Please CLICK HERE to see see our Suggested Supply Lists for next school year if you want to plan ahead!
Need a Backpack and Supplies?
REPORT CARDS
If your child did not receive their report card at the end of last year, please contact the main office as soon as possible. It is possible your address needs updating in our system.
DOES YOU CHILD HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS?
If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office prior to the start of school. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets. In addition, if your child has a medical plan, it will need to be updated for the 23-24 school year.
Please find medication forms linked below for your convenience.
iPad Updates
Students will be receiving their iPad soon after the beginning of the school year.
Technology Agreements need to be on file for all students before they receive their iPad and chargers. Click the here for the Technology Agreement form. ALL NEW STUDENTS will need to have a technology agreement completed.
iPads will stay at school or be allowed to go home per the current Technology Agreement that is on file. Technology Agreements can be updated if you would like your child to change if they take it home or leave it at school. The most current agreement on file is used.
Students who have Technology Agreements that are Opt-Out will keep their iPad at school. No charger will be assigned as it will be charged at night at school. If a charger is not needed as you have chargers at home, and your child takes their iPad home, you can decline a charger.
*Please mail Mrs. Cichocki at Dorothy.cichocki@fraserk12.org that your child will not need a charger. You will be added to the list, and one will not be assigned.
Students with Tech Fines
If a student has a technology fine for a charger, case or iPad, the iPad will stay at school until the fine is paid. Once paid, the iPad can be sent home with a new charger.
Please contact Mrs. Cichocki with any questions.
Thank you!
FIND YOUR CHILD’S BUS STOP ONLINE
Bus stop information will be available online for the 2023–2024 school year starting August 21st. You can access your child’s bus stop information by visiting www.fraser.k12.mi.us. Click on the "Bus Stops" link and enter your address to retrieve your child’s bus stop information.
It is very important to check your child’s bus stop, as routes have been modified for the 2023–2024 school year.
Students will be assigned a route number in lieu of a bus number. The route number is located on the left side of the entry door. To ensure transportation, all students must be at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time.
Please review with your child the bus rules found on the Transportation Department’s website.
