October Weekly Update
Week of October 9th - October 13th, 2023
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Don't forget to pre-order your school pictures as Hayward Photography will be at Point Webster on Tuesday, October 17th for school picture day! School pictures will be taken outside, weather permitting. Please note that information about school pictures has been shared with all of you, can also be found in this newsletter and a hard copy of information will be going home with students on Tuesday.
The Point Webster Health Office began vision and hearing screenings with our students in grades 5-8 on October 5th and will begin in Pre-K on October 13th. The majority of postural screenings will be conducted on November 1st. All students will be screened unless a written document has been submitted for the current school year by a parent. Screenings are done respectfully and discreetly. Parents will be notified if their child deviates from the normal. These screenings are important since they can reveal an issue that was not evident in the past.
Lastly, if you haven't filled out your child's contact card please be sure to do so. Also, please be sure to sign and date the contact card and have your child return it to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Ms. Christine Barrett
Principal
Pre-K Information
CARES:
Ms. Courtney & Ms. Hannah -
Our classes are settling into school. We will continue to work on school rules and classroom expectations. We worked with Letter Bb this week and will continue to focus on a letter each week. A favorite story we read this week was Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! for letters Pp and Bb! We are excited to work with fall-themed activities to guide our learning in October including apple, leaves and pumpkins. Please check and empty your child's folder for their hard work and updates from the teacher.
Integrated:
Ms. Aileen and Ms. Kerry -
The integrated preschool students have been learning about signs of fall and apples. Teachers recently sent out their Scholastic Book class codes. If you want to make a purchase and earn free books for your child’s classroom, orders are due October 11th.
