Winter is a time of cold and darkness, and also a time for lights and togetherness. In this season of contrasts, we will explore the themes of helplessness and happiness. All choirs will perform. Come a few minutes early to enjoy A Cappella caroling in the audience!

This year was a GREAT sale! We almost made it back to our pre-pandemic level of sales. Thank you, families, students and the FORMATA fruit sale committee: Angela Himegarner, Dar Schwartz, Crystal Follendorf, Maggie Ziegler, Christa Schmeelk and Chris Drake.

Fruit will be available for contactless drive thru pick up on Friday, December 8 (11 am - 7pm) at 905 Bethel Circle which is located in the Waunakee Industrial Park. All orders must be picked up during this time. THANK YOU!

Students now have their chosen their music and and should have made a photocopy of their music. Ask your student if they are planning on doing the festival and help remind them to begin practicing. Coaching with professional voice teachers will begin the week of January 8. Students will perform at here at Waunakee High School as we are hosting the event on Saturday, March 2nd.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! In order to host, we needs lots of parent leaders and volunteers. If you are interested in taking a small role in making the day a success, please Fill out this volunteer form and directors, and with coordinating volunteers. THANK YOU for considering this.

The FORMATA will have a meeting on January 8th at 7 pm to discuss how everyone can help volunteer for a successful Solo & Ensemble festival

Josie Petroff and Megan Grindle represented Waunakee High School vocal music in the Wisconsin School Music Associations Honors Choir and Vincent Chou participated in the WSMA Honors Orchestra in late October. After rehearsing at UW Green Bay for three days this summer, they were eager to sing and play with their ensembles and directors at Overture Hall.

Registration for Auditions for next year's ensemble is due Friday, December 8th at 11:59 pm. Auditions will take place in February. If you would like more information, visit the WSMA honors website.

Really interesting stuff!

On Wednesday, November 15th, Sonoro collaborated with WMTV channel 15 to create a recording for their annual Sounds of the Season program. We are looking forward to the premier of the program which will take place on Dec. 24 at 10 pm and Dec. 25 at 6:00 am. Mark your calendars and set your DVRs!

Ask your student about the individual project that they chose this year. I am super impressed with the work that your daughters and sons have put into these projects and learning goals. They are blowing me away!

A brief reflection for each goal is due January 5. Students and I will be conferencing individually to determine their grade for this project in their last small group Jan. 5 through Jan. 12th.

THERE WILL BE NO CHOIR FINAL. These projects will serve as our "final project", therefore it is a large portion of the choir grade this semester.

HOWEVER, we will have our final rehearsals for the SHOWCASE concert the week of finals during class.

Audition information will be available soon. If you are interested in being involved with this year's musical (on stage or crew member), listen for more information as it develops. Rehearsals will begin in Late February and the show runs the first weekend in May.

All families are members of the Waunakee FORMATA (Family Organization for Music and Theater Arts) by your student’s participation in our music programs. You can help support FORMATA through your financial as well as volunteer support.

Families that are able are encouraged to consider a donation of $25 per student for the 2023-24 School year. FORMATA assists with so much including helping to fund solo & ensemble festival, field trips, guest artists and collaborations, honors ensemble participation, scholarships, instruments and equipment. Our students' experience depends on the generosity of FORMATA and any and all donations are appreciated. Click below for more information
