SHS Spirit Week is coming to an end. The show of school spirit and the celebration of so many fun extracurricular activities has been fun to be a part of. If students have purchased tickets to the Homecoming Dance, I am sure your weekend will be filled with lasting memories.

Emergency Drills
We have already started the process of practicing emergency drills and we will have one more later in the year. By law, schools are required to participate in emergency drills every school year.

Lunch Initiative
We are starting to a new initiative that allows students who buy an item(s) that are sealed from the cafeteria and never opens it can put the item in a bin to allow other students to grab the item(s) for free.
Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch
The carry over period for students who were receiving free/reduced lunch for the 2022-2023 school year will end on September 27, 2023. If a new 2023-2024 application has not been submitted by that date your child will automatically be put on paid breakfast and lunch beginning September 28, 2023.

New for the 2023-2024 School Year
Deliveries and drop offs can be made in the front vestibule. Students will not be released from class to pick up deliveries but can check the table during passing period. The vestibule is not supervised and the office is not responsible for items on the dropoff table.
New Safety Procedure
Sandwich High School values a safe educational environment for our staff and students. Sandwich High School has a great opportunity to pilot a new process when visitors come to the main office. No persons other than the parent/guardian, parent designee, legal guardian, government officials, those pursuant to warrant or subpoena, or school personnel will have permission to see a student during school hours without being verified by showing a drivers license/state issued ID.
All visitors or venders who may need to go beyond the office are required to display a visitors’ badge during their stay and must provide a driver's license/state issued ID to be scanned in order to generate a name badge/ lanyard.Visitors must be escorted at all times while in the building.
Communication from the High School
Sandwich High School will generally email a bi-monthly newsletter. The purpose of this communication will be to highlight the latest things going on at school while also keeping you up to date on future events.

Transportation
Student Drivers
Students are not allowed to drive and park at school unless they have a parking permit. Parking passes cost $95 for the 2023-2024 school year.
Reminders
If dropping off a student at Sandwich High School, students who are walking through the parking lot have the right away.
Just a reminder to students and parents, outside food deliveries must be left on the entry table in the front vestibule. Students will not be released from class for food deliveries.
Student drop off and pick up is at the back of the school (door #1).
Also, when a stop arm is out on a bus, it is illegal to pass it.

Phones and Book Bags
While phones and book bags are permitted at SHS, each teacher has a unique classroom management system. Phones and book bags in the classroom will be at the discretion of the individual teacher.
