Attention 8th Grade Parents:
New Visitor System:
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools measures to increase safety in schools, all schools have now a vestibule with 2 locked doors to gain access to the reception and to the building.
We ask you to please review our news procedures as we will start enforcing them immediately:
- You will ring the bell in the front office as usual and our reception staff will unlock the door, as usual.
- With the new system, you will only gain access to the vestibule.
- Once in the vestibule, find the small table and do one of the following:
1. Place your identification under the green document camera if you want to go into the reception area. Our reception staff will communicate with you via phone to give you further instructions, and unlock the area to the reception.
2.Place your identification in the black device if you are visiting the building. Our reception staff will communicate with you via phone to give you further instructions, and unlock the area to the reception.
3. If you are only dropping off something for your student, use a sticky note and pen to write down his/her name, leave it in the vestibule, and you can exit. Our reception staff will retrieve your student's belonging.
Upcoming Georgia Health Survey:
The Georgia Student Health Survey (GSHS) is an anonymous, statewide survey that offers a primary source of student data on topics related to school safety and wellbeing, including school climate, graduation, school dropouts, alcohol and drug use, bullying and harassment, suicide, nutrition, and sedentary behaviors. The survey is required for all GA Public Schools and is used to calculate School Climate Star Ratings.
Coleman will be administering the survey during homeroom on Friday, November 10,2023
*Directions for opt out can be found here. Form to me mailed to Jamie.Larkin@gcpsk12.org

GCPS Annual AKS Public Review
Staff, students, families, and Gwinnett community members are invited to review and provide input on proposed instructional resources for select grades and courses in Mathematics, ESOL, and World Language. Before adopting instructional resources for classroom use, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) holds an extensive review. Multiple committees involving various stakeholder groups reviewed resources submitted by publishers for alignment with the school system’s Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) standards. During the ongoing review process, selected resources are piloted in GCPS classrooms. Data from the reviews and pilots will be considered in making adoption recommendations to the Board of Education in early 2024.
This year’s virtual public review is open now through October 31st.
