OZARK MIDDLE SCHOOL
Shelter, Front Office Opens After Christmas Break
Originally slated to be complete for the 2024-25 school year, work on the Ozark Middle School storm shelter is ahead of schedule and now the projects are expected to be ready for students for the start of second semester after Christmas break! Crews are currently working on flooring inside and have started interior painting.
The precast storm shelter was installed in the summer and crews worked on the roof, plumbing, framing and electrical this fall.
We know the construction has caused some inconveniences for parent pick-up and drop-off procedures. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we look forward to a new process next semester!
Project Details
- The storm shelter will serve as seven additional classrooms that will be used full-time.
- The project also includes a new entrance and office, as well as a visitor parking lot.
- Groundbreaking for the shelter was in April 2023.

TIGER PAW EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
Storm Shelter, Kitchen Set to Open This Spring
The storm shelter at Tiger Paw is also running ahead of schedule and we hope to be able to serve students breakfast and lunch in the new cafeteria this coming spring.
Located on Church Street on the south side of Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center, our littlest learners are enjoying seeing the large machinery and watching the construction workers.
Project Details
- The shelter will serve as a full-time cafeteria.
- This will improve breakfast and lunch time for Ozark’s littlest learners as the gym currently doubles as the cafeteria and meals are delivered twice daily from East Elementary.
- The new kitchen is attached to the east of the shelter, pictured above.
- Groundbreaking for the shelter was in April 2023.

OZARK HIGH SCHOOL
Storm Shelter, Indoor Activities Center to Open 2024-25 School Year
The north end of the high school is looking a bit different as crews have been moving dirt for the storm shelter as well as an indoor activities center. The precast storm shelter was erected in the fall, and crews are now working on the interior and the connection.
As for the indoor activites center, which is just east of the storm shelter, you will soon see walls. Just last week the red iron frame started going up and will continue over Christmas break.
Project Details
- The storm shelter will be located on the north end near the Wrestling Barn and greenhouse. The shelter will also serve as an additional gym for P.E. classes, sports and activities.
- Currently, OHS has two gymnasiums, which do not adequately accomodate our 1,700+ OHS students for PE classes during the school day. The extra gym located in the storm shelter is desperately needed as Ozark continues to grow.
- See more renderings of the storm shelter here.
- Down the hill from the storm shelter in the lower parking lot near Tiger Stadium, the indoor activities center will be constructed. The facility will include a 20-to-20 yard line turf and will be available for P.E., band, athletics, activities and community groups.
- See more renderings of the indoor activities center here.
- Groundbreaking for the projects was in April 2023.
- Both projects are on schedule to be finished for the start of the 2024-25 school year.
