Greetings!
A taste of fall arrived in parts of the state yesterday...sure was a better day than all of that swarming humidity...but it is only for a day or two!
Even during these busy months, some folks have reached out to me for help on navigating the channels to obtain their State of Alabama licenses. It's for a good reason since the licenses are required by Alabama law to install plants and control weeds, insects, & disease! (Yes...required...even if you are just spraying a little bit and not charging for it!) The AGITC has training focused on you helping you achieve your goals, and my exam review classes are not for pesticide points...everyone is working towards a common goal!
I posted the next round of classes for September and October on the www.agitc.org website, so please check into signing-up for one while reading through some of the class reviews for my trainings. The 2 classes in Clanton, AL will kick off our 2023-2024 USDA grant project tour with our partner, the Auburn University Horticulture Department, and they offer a reduced class fee with lunch provided! Check them out!
We are looking forward to starting the fall off with representing the Green Industry to middle and high school students! Events we are planning on attending include the West Alabama Worlds of Work event in Tuscaloosa, AL and several of the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association Equipment Rodeo events. If you are interested in helping with the mission, please reach out to see how we can put you (and/or your resources) to use! See the video below on the Equipment Rodeo from 2022.
Take care,
John
AGITC contributing to keeping the Green Industry in front of students!
We need you and your resources coming up Fall 2023!
Still seeking volunteers at each location!
The greatest need is being present to represent industry, talking with students about why you chose the Green Industry, helping instruct equipment operation, and general supervision around the event.
Call or text Russell Wood with Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association at 334-734-0608 if you are available to assist. Local equipment dealers are welcome to bring equipment. If you are in these counties, you could also help by contacting your equipment sales reps and encouraging them to get involved!
