Reflection on 6th Sunday of Easter
Having experienced the pain and sorrow of the crucifixion, then the joy and new life of the resurrection, the followers of Jesus now have to face the reality of the Risen Lord’s departure – again. He senses their confusion, pain and sense of loss. But before he leaves them, he gives those two parting gifts; The Holy Spirit and his own Peace.
He doesn’t give them all the answers to the questions they have. He knows that they will have to face difficulties, disagreements and differences. So he prepares them for the road ahead by strengthening and encouraging them with His risen life through the gifts of the Holy Spirit and his own inner Peace. He is sending them out to proclaim the good news, but he does not expect them to do it on their own.
Encouraged by His presence they will never be alone or helpless and neither are we, who are the community of believers today. We are asked face our daily reality and lives not just with optimism but with faith and hope in the risen Jesus and each other. Through celebrating and sharing in the resurrection, each of us also shares in and experiences the Peace of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. As we continue our journey through Easter, we that we will be blest with the gifts of Christ’s Peace and encouraged by the power of the Holy Spirit.
At All Souls we are blessed to be able to comfort each other in times of tragedy and hardship. We are building that relationship with Jesus, and this is an important aspect of a child's faith development.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Congratulations
Congratulations to our First Communion students who received the sacrament last Saturday. It was a wonderful Mass. Thanks to Miss Short for all the time she took in preparing the students for the sacrament.
Last Sunday we saw our Kindergartens read at the Sunday 9am Mass along with our 7th graders. It is always great to see how our students like to actively participate in the Mass. Thanks to Mr. Nicolas and Miss Morrison for preparing the students.
Well done to our speech team who were in a competition last weekend at St. Ignatius Prep High School. Thanks to Mrs. Mancinetti and Mr. Nicolas for working with the students to become Confident Communicators.
Congratulations to two of our 8th graders, Natalie Dean and Kalin Baca, who made it to the State Science Fair. It is a great achievement. Natalie received honorable mention for the wonderful work she did.
Thanks to Mrs. Allen and Miss Morrison who led our 6th graders during their Outdoor Education program last week up at CYO Occidental. It was a wonderful experience for all students.
Visit from Associate Superintendent
On Wednesday, the Associate Superintendent was here to meet with me regarding the progress of our students and to review her observations from previous visits. I am very pleased to say t hat she gave high accolades to the teaching staff for the way they create meaningful lessons for the students. We also reviewed STAR tests for the year and were happy to see substantial growth for our students. I wish to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our teachers for the hard work they do to ensure that all students are learning at their pace.
Missionary Childhood Association
I am pleased to write that the school was able to give the Missionary Childhood Association $384 from the collection of the Lenten money boxes. Thanks to all students who returned the money boxes and made an effort for collection during the Lenten season.
