Principal Note
Social-Emotional Learning Survey—3rd-5th Grade Students
Beginning on Monday, September 27th, the fall survey window for Panorama, our district’s Social-Emotional Learning survey. All 3rd-5th grade students will participate in the survey. Please see the information below regarding this new screening tool.
St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 strives to provide all students with the best opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally in school. As part of this commitment, District 303 is enhancing our Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) across the district for the 2021-2022 school year.
This year, students in grades 3-12 will be completing a universal screening tool to assess their social and emotional learning skills. The use of universal screening allows us to refine and strengthen our efforts to help all students achieve success by taking positive and preventative measures as early as possible. This also provides us with the opportunity to assist students who may need additional support with social and emotional learning.
One of the universal screening tools used by the District is the Panorama SEL Survey, which focuses on the following areas:
Self-Management
Emotional Regulation
Social Awareness
Grit
Self Efficacy
Sense of Belonging
Teacher-Student Relationship
The Panorama SEL Survey will be completed two times this school year during the weeks of September 27th to October 8th and March 14th to 25th. If a screening shows that a student will benefit from additional skill development, parents will be contacted and will work in collaboration with school staff to problem-solve and determine next steps.
Additional information about this screener and other assessments in District 303 may be found on our website at https://district.d303.org/departments/assessment. Thank you for your support and assistance in ensuring each of our students has the opportunity to achieve academic and social-emotional success.
Please feel free to contact your building principal or me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
David Chiszar
Executive Director of Assessment and Accountability

Fall Conferences
Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 7th from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday, October 8th from 8 a.m.- Noon. Parents/Guardians may schedule an in-person or a virtual conference. This is an opportunity for students, parents/guardians, and teachers to focus on setting meaningful goals. Teachers will be working with students to review their strengths and areas of improvement prior to the conference. Students will then set goals and brainstorm ideas to reach those goals which will be shared at his or her conference or before. In order to prepare for these conferences, please reflect on this school year so far. What has been a success for your child? What has been a challenge? How can you support your child with reaching his or her goals? The conferences will conclude with time for questions that you may have for your child or the teacher.
Pick-A-Time officially opened on September 23rd, at 8:00 a.m.
