BOLTON SKI & RIDE - GRADES 5-8
HCS ski program for grades 5th through 8th at Bolton Valley - A Message From Michelle Villeneuve
We are in need of a leader or co-leader. The ski program will run 5 Wednesday afternoons after school until 7 pm in either January-early February OR second half of February through March. Looking for a co-leader who can meet the students at school at 1:50 dismissal, take attendance, and ride the bus with them. I can complete the sign-ups/ paperwork, communication with Bolton and be at Bolton Valley from 3:45 on. If someone wants to take it over, that is okay too.
We can't run the program without at least a co-leader. If you are available and interested, please call or email me in the next couple of weeks at (802) 318-5037 or wvillen1@hotmail.com
Thanks for considering,
Michelle Villeneuve

VTCAP ASSESSMENT UPDATE
Student Individual Reports for the VTCAP assessments administered in the Spring of 2023 were scheduled to be released on September 19, 2023. We received notification from the Vermont Agency of Education that the release has been delayed. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more from the AOE. We plan to send the Individual Student Reports home along with an Interpretation Guide for families as soon as we are able.
1st GRADE STUDENTS TESTING THE STRENGTH OF THEIR BRIDGE
On Saturday 9/30 CVSD GSAs (gender and sexuality alliances) will participate in the Fire Truck Pull to raise money for Outright Vermont in their largest fundraising event of the year. Their goal is to raise $200,000 to support LGBTQ+ youth by providing programming for youth, training for educators, support and education for families, and more.
Vermont's LGBTQ+ youth are at greater risk than their heterosexual and cisgender peers (see data from YRBS below) and there has been increased anti-LGBTQ+ activity in Vermont and across the nation. Outright is an amazing non-profit that needs funding to support their work. This is where we can help.
The CVSD GSA team is aiming to raise $3,000 for Outright, in addition to starting the school year off by bringing the district GSAs together and joining the local LGBTQ+ community and allies in this great event.
We need your support. Choose from these ways to help:
* Donate to our team using the information on the attached flyer or click on this link.
Imagine if everyone who got this email donated $10, $5, or even just $1. We would reach our goal in no time!
* Join us at the Fire Truck Pull on Church St on 9/30-- festivities start at 11am and pulling starts at noon. Even better, grab the rope and pull with us!

ParentIN CVSD is working with our district to better understand the perspectives and needs of caregivers. Your honest answers are appreciated and are completely anonymous and will not be used to identify individual respondents in any way. Results help us evaluate current programs and plan new ways to support youth and families in our area. If you have questions about this survey, reach out to Amy Sayre at asayre@cvsdvt.org.
At the end of the survey is a link to be entered in a raffle for a chance to win one of three $50 gift cards to a grocery store of your choice! The contact information you provide for the raffle is kept separate from the survey response and cannot be tied to your survey answers.

On October 5th we'll host a convenient, virtual event that is a collaboration between ParentIN and UMatter. Kathleen Kilbourne of the Center for Health and Learning will help us identify risk and protective factors connected to supporting youth mental health and will share ways to strengthen wellbeing and reduce suicide risk. Save 7:00-8:00pm for Kathleen's presentation and 8:00-8:30pm if you want to stay for questions. This event is free and open to residents in the CVSD and Burlington school districts. No registration required. Save this zoom link to join at 7:00pm on 10/5: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89721209081
You told us you wanted to be better informed on social mediaβs impact on youth. On November 16th, we are bringing back an amazing speaker, Erin Walsh of the Spark and Stitch Institute, for a virtual presentation from 7-8:30pm on Teens, Social Media & Mental Health and how we can help the young people in our lives navigate the digital world. CVSD FALL PARENT & CAREGIVER SURVEY IS LIVE!
CVSD values your feedback and we want to know what you think!
We are currently surveying our families and caregivers to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. To ensure that we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college, career, and the future, we would love to learn your opinion on the progress towards those ends.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our Fall 2023 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential and anonymous. The survey will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and our district exemplary.
You may complete the survey online between September 22 and October 13 using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. If you have children in more than one of our schools, we'd appreciate you sharing your thoughts about each separately. Please note: we are not certain that the survey saves if you have to step away while completing it. Please try to fill it out in one sitting. When you click on the link, you'll see a (2) after the survey name on the main screen. That will help you know you've got the correct link.
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please donβt hesitate to contact us using Let's Talk and selecting the General Questions topic.
Thank you,
Rene Sanchez, Superintendent
Champlain Valley School District
