Willow's Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Despite the crummy weather on Monday, we had a good turn out for our Day of Service in support of the South Suburban Humane Society. We were able to stuff the back of 2 SUV's with donations. If you would still like to contribute, you can drop off at Willow through the end of the month.

Chaperones:

One of the fun ways parents help us is when they chaperone field trips. As we head towards the rest of he year, I wanted to be sure everyone knew what the expectations are. Please be sure you are familiarize yourself ahead of time.

Grant winners:

We had four teachers submit grant proposals to the National Council of Jewish Women. The NCJW generously funds our staff's creative ideas almost every year. The combined amount for this year's awards was just under $1300. Congratulations to Kindergarten teachers Kimeon Cruikshank and Michele MacLeod, as well as Second Grade teachers Yolanda Collins and Oneida Haymond.

Family conversations:

Do you like dancing? Basketball? Doing puzzles? The activities that we enjoy are what make us unique. This month we are talking about how students' different interests help make our school stronger!

Juneteenth:

You Matter 2 is organizing the 2nd Annual Homewood-Flossmoor Juneteenth Royal Court contest for the 2023 Homewood-Flossmoor Juneteenth Festival and Parade. The royal court contest is open to students in K-12th grade, giving them the opportunity to gain education, experience, and exposure. Students will set goals, be a part of a brother/sisterhood, and will play a part in uniting the community. They will have the chance to win monetary awards and prizes and to be crowned the Mr. and Miss H-F Juneteenth.
