Kids Heart Challenge - Feb. 15 to March 14
Dear Colton Families,
Kids Heart Challenge is kicking off on February 15th! Together, we’ll empower our students to have happy and healthy hearts and brains, while raising lifesaving donations to help others with special hearts. The AHA is celebrating 100 years of saving & improving lives, and this would not be possible without YOU! Please join the AHA’s 100th birthday party by following these two steps:
- Register TODAY at http://www2.heart.org/goto/ColtonElementary or by downloading the free AHA Schools App for Apple or Android
- Start Finn’s Mission to learn Hands-Only CPR & raise lifesaving donations to help special hearts
SPECIAL INCENTIVES:
- Students who register online BEFORE our kick-off will be entered into a drawing to earn BUSTER!

IMMUNIZATION EXCLUSION DAY
Immunization Exclusion Day is February 21, 2024. All students not in compliance with Oregon's Immunization law will be excluded from school on that day, and can not return until they are in compliance.
If your student is not in compliance, you were given a copy of the Oregon Certificate of Immunization Status form at your conference. Please update, sign, and return it to the office as soon as possible.

LOST AND FOUND
Our Lost and Found is still growing fast! We will try to post more pictures. If you are missing a jacket, sweatshirt or coat, feel free to email Mrs. Wagner and we will look for you wagnerc@colton.k12.or.us
New Volunteer Training Requirement
All parents and volunteers, in order for you to work in or around our buildings, you must clear an ODE and CSD background check and complete mandatory training. If you have only completed one of the online training modules, please email hr@colton.k12.or.us to receive the full set. This is a new requirement. If you have any questions, please call the office at (503)824-3536. Thank you for for your support of keeping Colton School District safe!

BCCCA Program: K - 1 - 2 - 3 Reading Opportunity
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade Families,
Feb. 8- All families are still welcome to sign up and read 2 or more of these 7 books. They can be read by students or the whole family. There are also 4 of them available on our school's Sora's audiobook account (FOR FREE!!!). Just sign up through Mrs. Wagner at wagnerc@colton.k12.or.us. These 7 books are targeted to the reading ability of 2nd and 3rd graders or transitional readers, but can be enjoyed by all! Click HERE for more info.

STEM Fun in 4th and 5th Grade
Our 4th and 5th grade students spent January going through the Engineering Design Process to create devices to throw a ping pong ball into a basketball goal. Each team created very interesting basketball goals and devices. It was an exciting activity!
