Dear Families,

We have been "working hard and playing hard" at our great school!

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up. We value our family partnerships and strongly encourage everyone to sign up for conferences. Please watch for this registration process next week.

As COVID numbers are decreasing, many school districts nearby are lifting the mask requirements within schools. Our School Board and Administration would like your input about the Mask Requirement, as we prioritize in-person learning. Please watch for a survey within the next couple days!

Families can help donate money to our school when purchasing from Amazon by just using their account in these simple steps:

Sign up for Amazon Smiles in a web browser:

1. Visit smile.amazon.com
2. Sign into their account they use for amazon.com
3. Select North Metro Flex Academy
4. Start shopping! They must then always use smile.amazon.com to generate donations for the school.

Sign up for Amazon Smile in the Amazon app on their mobile phone.

1. Open the amazon app
2. Navigate to main menu
3. Tap settings and then select AmazonSmile
4. Select North Metro Flex Academy and follow the on-screen instructions to turn on
5. Once activated in the app, all future app purchases will generate donations when eligible.

CDC updated their recommendations for isolation and quarantine when sick or exposed to COVID-19: Quarantine and Isolation. MDH updated If You Are Sick or Test Positive and Close contacts and Quarantine, and we are working to revise other guidance and materials to align with CDC over the coming days.

This updated guidance does apply to K-12 school settings (refer to Overview of COVID-19 Quarantine for K-12 Schools).

PLEASE REMEMBER:

If your child is experiencing any symptoms, please keep them home to monitor and test.

We understand that your student(s) may be vaccinated - but classrooms may transition to distance learning due to number of cases and staffing.

Those who have signed up - thank you. It is recommended, but not required that a parent or guardian is with the student during the time of the vaccine.

We also welcomed two new part-time employees that will be starting at NMFA this week helping and assisting in the classroom and around the school.

Meet Rhiley Harris....Rhiley is a 5th grade student at NMFA. She enjoys singing, theater and dancing. Rhiley is going to go behind the scenes at NMFA and give weekly information on what is going on in classrooms and around the school. Be on the look out on next weeks newsletter for updates and classroom connections!

Students are constructing molecules for science class.

The Middle School students have completed 100,000 questions in IXL since mid-October. They use the platform for practicing math, as well as some science, social studies, and ELA skills. The program provides immediate feedback and allows students to practice at their own pace.

Every morning over the new PA system, Mrs. Kranz is highlighting MN Athletes who are at the Olympics during our morning announcements . Our PE teacher, Mrs. Engstrom, was a girls hockey coach at Hill Murray. She coached Hannah Brandt for 5 years. She still stays in contact with her and Hannah sent some pictures to share. Check this out!

• Parents and guardians thank you so much for your help in getting us your students re-enrollment forms back. This is a reminder that we have not received some student's re-enrollment form for next year. After this week we will begin sending registrations to families that have applied during re-enrollment; generally during re-enrollment, any forms turned in saves that seat for the student. Then after re-enrollment ends we begin filling any empty seats with student who turn in re-enrollment late or are new students. To ensure we have space for your students please get these forms back as soon as possible.

• NEW PA System:

Last week our school installed a new PA system for better communication and safety. Students are staff are able to clearly hear announcements throughout the school every day.
