Message from the Principal...
We had an amazing turnout for Read for A Better Life! Our students enjoyed getting to hear our volunteers come and read to their classes, we appreciate all of your support to promote the love of reading. Thank you to all of our families who attended Open House. October is here which brings the end of the first grading period, October 5th. We will begin the 2nd grading period on October 10th when students return from their long weekend. There are many exciting things coming in October, the important dates are listed below. As always we appreciate your continued support!

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL REMINDERS
- Our doors open at 7:00 A.M.., please do not leave student unaccompanied before that time.
- Students can be dropped off between 7:00 A.M. - 8:00 A.M.
- 8:00 A.M. all students and staff begin their day.
- If you arrive at or after 8:00 A.M. please be prepared to assist your child by parking in a designated parking spot, walking your child inside the front office and signing them in.
- Please do not park on the fire lane and leave your car unattended at anytime.
Dismissal
- Our dismissal begins at 3:10 pm
- Bus riders: PreK and Kinder students are required to have a parent at the bus stop with their sign. * Note that bus drivers are getting to their routes on time. Verify your child arrival time and plan to be waiting for them 10-15 minutes before.
- Car rider: If your child is a car rider, you must have a completed car rider sign to show at dismissal. Our car rider is moving a lot quicker now thanks to your patience and cooperation, please plan to be in the car rider line no later than 3:30 P.M.
- Remember no texting and/or using hand-held cellular devices while driving in school zones (this includes the car rider line).
- Always remind your child of their daily transportation. Any changes of transportation must be delivered in a handwritten note or via email before 2:00 P.M. if you need to contact our campus please call 936-709-1500.

Conroe ISD Bond Election
Prop A of Bond 2023 includes 5 major renovations and 2 master plans. Major renovations at The Woodlands High School, Oak Ridge HS 9th Grade Campus, Knox Junior High, Creighton Elementary, and San Jacinto Elementary. Prop A also includes Phase II of the Oak Ridge High School Master Plan and Phase I of the Booker T. Washington High School Master Plan.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR NURSE
When your child is ill, please contact the school to let them know he or she will not be attending that day.
*If your child has a fever over 100 degrees, he or she must stay out of school until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
*Students with diarrheal illnesses must stay home until he/she is diarrhea free without diarrhea-suppressing medications for at least 24 hours.
*If your child has tested positive for COVID, self report on the COVID central app or contact the nurse 936-709-1504.
A child who demonstrates the following symptoms should be sent home from school.
*Fever of 100 degrees or more.
*Suspected contagious condition or disease.
*Vomiting or diarrhea.
*Severe stomachache, headache, or earache.
*A child who is too ill to function in the classroom.
Please send extra set of clothes with your student to keep in backpack for any accidents, mud, rips, etc.... and if your child has borrowed clothes from the clinic please return them.

Storybook Pumpkin Patch
We are growing a storybook pumpkin patch in the Wilkinson Library, and we need your help!
Decorate a pumpkin to look like one of your favorite book characters and bring it to school to plant in our Storybook Pumpkin Patch!
Think of your favorite book and design your pumpkin based on your favorite character from that book.
Purchase a fake a pumpkin that is NO larger in size than a basketball.
Gather your decorating supplies. Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. You can add materials, like yarn, buttons, wiggly eyes, etc.
Bring your pumpkin to school Oct. 2-13.
Voting will take place Oct. 16-27.
Grade Level Category (One winner per grade level PK-4)
Family Category (Siblings create one pumpkin)
Teacher Category (Teacher created pumpkin)
ONLY FAKE PUMPKINS- Real pumpkins will not be entered in the competition and will be sent home.
Winners will be announced on Monday, Oct. 30 via morning announcements. Pumpkins will be sent home with students no later than Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Participation is completely voluntary.

Volunteering
When you get to the School Selection portion, please select Wilkinson Elementary (and any other school you may wish to volunteer at this school year) then click the green "Add" button to add to the school list. If you do not see Wilkinson Elementary listed as one of your selected schools, please go back and try again. Unfortunately, we cannot see that you have completed the application if Wilkinson is not selected. You will receive an email confirmation typically within 24-48 hours.
If you arrive for a volunteer opportunity and have not completed the background check, you will not be permitted to stay for the activity. Please pass this information along to any grandparents, aunts, uncles or family friends who may wish to come help out. The background check applies to anyone who will be working with our Lions.
This is a yearly application so even if you completed this form at the end of last school year, it does not renew automatically. You must complete it again for the 23-24 year.
