Track & Field Regionals are officially in the record books, please join me in congratulating Janet Watson on great weekend of competition.
This was J. Watson’s first year to compete at a Regional Track Meet, and it was a great learning experience for her. She placed 11th out of 16 girls in the 3200m run on Friday, in less-than-ideal temps & extremely windy conditions. She then came back on Saturday confident & strong in the 1600m run, placing 6th out of 16 girls. 💪🏼
Next up is the North Texas 1600 race on 5/6 in Southlake. This girl RUNS the world.
Western Hills HS
On Friday and Saturday, the boys and girls track team competed in the Region II 4A Track and Field Championships in Commerce, TX. In her first regional track meet Abby Moilan got 6th place in the Shot Put. Also competing in his first regional track meet Trishtan Willis got 7th place in the 110-meter hurdles setting a personal record with a time of 15.59. Aaron Martin got 3rd place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 earning a spot to compete in the State Track Meet on Thursday, May 11th. He had the fastest 3rd place time out of all 4 regions and qualified as the wildcard.

FWISD Flag Football
Benbrook HS
The Bobcat Flag Football team delivered their Little Libraries to Benbrook Elementary and Westpark Elementary this past week. The libraries were filled with Anti-Bullying books along with positive affirmation letters, written by our flag football team.
The Bobcat Flag football team was joined at Westpark by Dr. Langston, Coach Lofton, and Dallas Cowboys legend Everson Walls!
We are so thankful to our principals, Mr. Penland, Mrs. Gonzalez and Mrs. Mason for allowing us to work with them on this project.
North Side HS
The Girls Flag Football Team defeated South Hills 24-12 in a hard-fought win Tuesday (5/2) night! Steers are now playoff bound with 1 win away from clinching the #1 seed and a spot in the district championship game. The game was tied 12-12 with 10 min left and Acealynn Gray found Isabell Ibarra for a TD and then ran in for the game clinching TD on the next possession to put the game out of reach.
Polytech HS
The Lady Parrots Flag Football team would like to thank the teachers and Poly nation for all their support during their 39-0 victory over Southwest. "Happy teacher appreciation week"
Trimble Tech HS
Would like to pass along that Tech's Flag Football team has been putting in a lot of hard work the past couple weeks, they have two games left this season. They are going to South Hills this Friday then return to Tech Friday May 12th for their last game of this season. If you can come out and cheer Coach Rudolf, Coach Tran, and the Lady Bulldogs on they would really appreciate it.
FWISD Volleyball
Polytech HS
We had a BLAST at the Volleyball Showdown today. Thank you so much for coming!
The Coaches defended their victory over the Seniors in a major upset of 58-50 (the actual score, since Ms. Wright was being sneaky! ). Let's hear it for the winning team: Coach Gonatas, Coach Sierra, Coach Gilbertson, Coach Romero, (FS) Coach Garcia, Coach Viska, Coach Peters, Coach Lee, and Mr. Swaim! Better luck next year, Seniors!
The Boys vs. Girls Game to follow was HEATED, to say the least. The boys put up a good fight, but the girls pulled through and won both games: 25-23, 25-22. A super close match that was so intense we had to check video footage on a few ref calls 🙃! Please congratulate the following athletes tomorrow on a job well done!
Boys: Thomas Briceno, Reese Carruthers, Curvontay Johnson, Yann Hollstein, Thee Intasakha, Angel Montanez, Chris Perdomo, Dilan Plata, Chance Taylor, and Jan Wade
Girls: Ruby Calderon, Sofia Castro, Cecilia Chavez, Andrea Martinez, Jahaira Garza, Alexa Gastelum, Tyra Ray, and Ivanna Powe
A huge shoutout to The Science Department, The Go Center, Ms. Wright, Colonel C, Mr. Hardin, and Mr. Perez for all of your help with the game! We couldn't have done it without you!
Until next year 🖤

FWISD MS Soccer
Benbrook MS
April 28th was another good night for the Benbrook Gold Girls’ Soccer Team. The Gold team won their match 5-0!!! The Benbrook Green Girls’ Soccer Team suffered several injuries but fought valiantly in their defeat to a phenomenal McLean MS Soccer Team.
May 4th was another tough night for the Lady Cats. For the final week of regular competition, Benbrook Gold won a hard-fought game against Morningside, but Benbrook Green fell shy of the mark against Leonard. As always, we are extremely proud of our girls and their performance!
Go Bobcats!
Riverside MS
Congratulations to Coach Davis and the Riverside Middle School girls soccer team for winning their home game vs Daggett 5-2. The staff enjoyed their VIP status during teacher appreciation night. Great job!

North Side HS
Yesterday we had our 1st annual Sports Camp free to the North Side Community! We had over 60 campers and 40 HS/Coach Volunteers. We are extremely thankful for the Dallas Cowboys sponsored by Ryan for funding this event, Girls Flag Football for coordinating it, and North Side Coaches and Players for leading a group or station! The campers had opportunities to participate in basketball, volleyball, track, football, soccer, and tennis and many found liking for a new sport. We all had the time of our lives and even had a former Cowboys Player, Larry Brown, attend! We are all already excited for camp next year! #Steersup 🤘🏽
