Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
This past Friday was a wonderful day for Springfest! In the morning we had ACCESS Friday, providing an opportunity for students to catch up on work, retake tests, and get additional support from teachers. In the afternoon was Springwater's Springfest which included baby goats, Kona Ice, an inflatable obstacle course, and a variety of games and activities designed and facilitated by leadership.
This is the last week before Finals -- we now have less than 2 weeks of the school year left! Seniors' last day is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 6th. Today our seniors participated in a Grad Walk at Hogan Cedars: parading around their school smiling and waving to all the K-5 students out in the halls. Tomorrow we are taking seniors down to Oaks Park to celebrate the end of their high school career. This time of year always brings a mixture of emotion: excitement at the accomplishments of our seniors and sadness to see them go.
We continue to reach out to families of students who need to complete summer school. Our hope is to get every student back on track so they all can begin next school year in a strong position to graduate.
Thank you for all you have done over the year to support your student and the Springwater staff. We appreciate all that you do and couldn't do it without you. Take care and, as always, reach out with questions!

Future Plans After High School: I don’t know. I might go to college.
Grade: 9
Interests: I like basketball and lifting weights.
Favorite subject in school: PE, because it’s better than the rest
Favorite thing about STHS: The weight room
Joshua Schmelzer
Future Plans After High School: I’d like to go to a culinary school because I like cooking, baking, anything like that. I think Mt. Hood Community College has a course like that, so I’ll probably go there to pursue a path in cooking.
Grade: 10
Interests: I like video games. I’m interested in cooking. I like fishing. It’s very fun. BBQ can be very fun, as well. I like to go hiking a lot. I also like Seaside. It’s one of my favorite places to go to, just to be a tourist, even if I don’t go to all the shops.
Favorite subject in school: Subject or teacher? Because I like English, but only with Ramsey. He makes learning actually fun.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like how accepting it is. I like that this school allows me to show things/knick-knacks to my friends and I won’t get in trouble for it, like I’ve heard at other high schools.
Lydia Hood
Future Plans After High School: I want to be a tattoo artist. Next year when I only have four classes, I’m going to be training at a tattooing art school. Once I get 360 hours, I will get to have my own license. I’ll get to go anywhere in the country, tattoo anybody, and I’ll be fully licensed.
Grade: 11
Interests: I like art. I love horseback riding. I like reading. I work at the Hogan Cedars library. It’s super fun.
Favorite subject in school: I don’t have one.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like that it’s a smaller school and I like that the bus picks me up where I stay.
Finals Week: June 12th - 15th, 2023
FREE TriMet Summer Passes
This summer the passes are paper, and TriMet has carefully placed them in protective sleeves, hoping that students will keep them covered. If they get wet, they will not work.

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
