Longhorn Football Defeats Mansfield, 47-14, on Homecoming Night.
For its sixth straight game, the Cedar Hill High School Football Team entered a game against an undefeated opponent.
This time, the Longhorns rolled to a 47-14 victory over Mansfield High on Friday night's Homecoming Game at Longhorn Stadium.
"Getting our starters back in the lineup made a big difference," Cedar Hill first-year head coach Nick Ward said.
Cedar Hill (2-4, 1-2) racked up a season-high 504 yards of total offense, along with 22 first downs (each of them sponsored by Parkland Hospital).
Cedar Hill first-year head coach Nick Ward called the game a “must win” earlier in the week. The victory was Ward’s first district win and his first win at Longhorn Stadium.
The Longhorns’ 47 points were the most since they scored 58 on December 4, 2020 vs. Waco Midway.
Cedar Hill outrushed the Tigers (5-1, 2-1), 367-178, and four Longhorns rushed for touchdowns on Friday. Cedederic Castleberry had his best game of the season, with nine carries for 75 yards and two scores (his first touchdowns of the season). Nine Longhorns carried the ball on Friday.
Zhaiylen Scott finished with two carries for a team-high 81 yards and a touchdown.
"Scott gives us a spark every time he touches the ball," Ward said.

Mark Brown had two carries for 80 yards and his first career touchdown.
Le’Keldrick Bridges caught two passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, and Keione Bright finished with three catches for 36 yards and his first touchdown reception of the season. Bridges now has a team-high four touchdown receptions on the season.
The Longhorns will visit Dallas Skyline (3-3, 2-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Forester Stadium in Dallas.
Coach Ward Milestones
Ward has a chance to become the first Cedar Hill head football coach to lead a team to the playoffs in his first season. Joey McGuire won three State Championships and Carlos Lynn coached the 2020 Team to the State Championship Game, but neither guided the Longhorns to the playoffs in their first season,
Edwards' Season Debut
He completed 11 of 16 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 44 yards and a score.
"He brought back a lot of the old Cedar Hill, with the uptempo offense," Ward said.
