GIFTS FOR EVERYONE!
C.I.T.Y. of Support has you COVERED this time of year!
More Holiday Shopping!
For the first time, C.I.T.Y. of Support hosted a "Collaborative Blog Post." This topic was all about parents' and professionals' favorite holiday gifts. Read through a variety of ideas, all coded to align with different developmental skills, and with links to the recommended items available on Amazon. This is a great start for parents/grandparents hoping to find fun, engaging, and functional gifts that might also potentially address some therapeutic goals.
And, if you are stumped as to what gift to purchase for the teachers/therapists or other caring adults in your kids' lives, look no further than our D.I.Y. Card Craft Kits. Our "Happy Holiday" sets are available as supplies last through our website (1 for $3 and 2 for $5). Place your order soon, and they will be mailed to your home with enough time for you and your child to create these special crafts together.
Thanks and Giving
- Do you find our efforts important? Meaningful? Unique?
- Think about your participation in our community. How often do you check C.I.T.Y. social media newsfeeds? Do you appreciate having a place to post questions, provide advice, and share in successes/challenges?
- Think about the options we provide on your calendar. Have you attended our in-person playgroup/support groups? Registered for our special events?
- Have you made connections with other parents? Networked with other professionals? Learned valuable strategies from our education roundtables? Received a "Welcome to our C.I.T.Y." gift bag?
We ask you, especially at this time of "Thanks and Giving" to watch the video highlights of this past year with C.I.T.Y. of Support; feel inspired by the community we are creating; and consider contributing what you can towards the ongoing success of our organization. Any donation will make an impact. Simply visit www.cityofsupport.org, and click on the "DONATE" button. A monthly pledge is especially appreciated, as this will help provide us with consistent and reliable revenue throughout the year. Thank YOU!!

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16th from 10:00-4:30
Family-friendly Valentine's activities and resource fair in the morning and education series for parents and professionals in the afternoon! C.I.T.Y. of Support is thrilled to be partnering with the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) in order to offer this exciting event! This event is the essence of community-building. Bringing together parents, professionals, and children together for social, educational, and networking purposes...now that is LOVE. <3
This year we are expanding on the success of the "We Love Our C.I.T.Y." Valentine's Event in order to offer programming for everyone! Our theme is "Music and Movement," and you are welcome to stay for some or all of the day's events! Registration is FREE for families with only a nominal charge for professionals attending the education series (IL Early Intervention continuing education credits pending!).
During the morning hours, parents will guide their children through the engaging Valentine's Day-themed obstacle course while interacting with community businesses and neighborhood resources in the large gym. They will also participate in a variety of music and movement activities, led by music therapists and yoga/dance/movement instructors in the large motor rooms nearby. A boxed lunch will be available for purchase if desired.
Then, in the afternoon, parents and professionals can participate in dynamic educational discussions and live demonstrations of ways to incorporate music and movement into therapy sessions, classroom structure, and everyday routines. Onsite childcare *may* be available for those parents wishing to stay the full day.
Professionals: If you are signed up to receive our "professional emails," be sure to check your messages tomorrow, on Monday morning, 12/2. Details with opportunities for you to participate in this highly-engaging event will be sent out then. You won't want to wait to sign up! Contact hello@cityofsupport.org if you do not receive it and/or if you want more information.

Regional Playgroups
NORTHWEST SUBURBS: ARLINGTON HEIGHTS MEMORIAL LIBRARY:
As always, we are meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (12/10) for our “Developmental Playgroup.” We are also continuing to offer a more adult-focused group called “Caregivers, Coffee, and Play” on the 4th Sunday of the month (12/22). Come join us and meet other families in the neighborhood.
**OTHER REGIONS**
We are continuing to research other neighborhood options in the North, West, South, and City locations that will help to accommodate more families. We are especially interested in partnering with other local libraries in those areas. If you are interested in helping to facilitate these types of events near you, please feel free to contact us at hello@cityofsupport.org.
