Budget Updates

I am grateful to the work of Patrick Menke, the Parish Finance Council and Father Creagan to get the school budget for the 23-24 school year approved. We continue to invest in programs, staff and our vision of excellence while working to reduce the additional dollars being invested by the parish. With the increase in enrollment, additional PK program, summer programming, and our hopes to hire an effective development/marketing person for the school the outlook is positive. Because of the enrollment and programming increases, we are working to raise staff salaries and retain and hire well qualified staff for the school.

I am pleased that the budget will allow us to open an additional 3rd grade classroom next year bringing us to three classrooms at that level and adding another Learning Specialist to our team, I am optimistic that these and other approved items in the budget will propel us to continue to advance the school community to grow spiritually, academically, and in virtue.

Thank you to our School Advisory Council members who are rolling off the committee this year. Julie Hamiel, Paul Elskamp, Mike Ferguson and Jimmy Fritz. They put in an additional year to help with the transition from Covid to the new administration. We are grateful for their work on the committees and on the council to help the school make many positive gains this year. Thank you to all of the other SAC members for their commitment and continuing their service into the new school year. Chris Kroon will be the new President of SAC.

Thank you to Christina Mahady for her work as the President of Home and School this year and serving as the representative from H & S to SAC. She has accomplished a lot to bring transparency and organization to the planning and increased the success of this vital school support group. Thanks also to all of the H & S leadership and parent members who have worked to create a wonderful school year for the students and staff.

We are pleased with the continuing progress of our students as was shared in the Annual Report. Once again, Mrs. Vance and Ms. Wenner have written notes on the tests with suggestions for summer work or complements, which parents should receive in the mail shortly. If you have questions on the scores, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher or Ms. Wenner for middle school students and Mrs. Vance for K - 5 students.

There will be over 1,400 pieces of art displayed at the "Night at the Museum" event this weekend. Please stop after the weekend Masses to see the talent on display.

Thank you to Mrs. Lamusga and to our students for creating this AMAZING art display. Thank you to the volunteers who helped make this possible.

Thank you to the many Grandparents who attended our Grandparents Mass today. We are grateful for you support and love of our school.

Please join us in celebrating mass on Friday, May 26th at 9am. We will recognize our volunteers along with a few other recognitions as we are getting to the end of our school year. We hope you can join us!

Yearbooks will be passed out at the end of the school year for those who purchased one. If you did not preorder a yearbook, we do have a few still available. If you would like to purchase one, please send in a check or cash to the school office. Yearbooks cost $20 (checks should be made out to St. Joseph's School).

LAST CHANCE! If you are interested in ordering a summer skills workbook for math, language arts, Spanish, study skills or keyboarding, please complete the attached form and return it to the school office with a check. There are samples in the office that you can check out if you would like to see them before you order. The books are $20 each. It is recommended that you order the grade level that your child just completed and not the next grade as they have not learned that material yet. Orders are due on MONDAY.

For each completed workbook that is returned to the office during the back to school night event your child will receive a prize.

Registration is open for the SUMMER CHESS CAMP at St. Joe's. It is open to all incoming K - 8 students. Master this timeless classic battle of strategy! Nothing will prepare you for critical thinking better than chess! Play exciting games of chess, Bughouse and Blitz! K-8, all skill levels
