Attendance Update

If your student is absent from school due to illness, appointment, or occasional family/personal reasons, please use one of the following three ways to excuse your student:

  1. Call the direct attendance line at (253) 891-5210 and leave a message at any time.

  2. Email students name and absence reason to joelle_atkins@sumnersd.org

  3. Send a parent or doctor’s note with your student to school upon their return and make sure they turn it into the attendance office. (If your student is an athlete, they must return with a doctor's note to be eligible to participate.)

If we do not hear from you, it is marked in the system as unexcused.

Yearbook Sales Reminder

This is your last chance to order your yearbook and be guaranteed a copy. Once we put in our order, sales will be on a first come first serve basis. Cost: $25.

Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines

While there has been new CDC guidance with isolation timelines, we are waiting for information from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department for changes to take place. Currently SBLSD will continue to follow these state Department of Health guidelines until otherwise updated.

Upcoming Dates

  • January 17: No School: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • January 20: Band Concerts Beginning at 5:30 (6th grade and Jazz Band) and 7:00 (7th, 8th, and Jazz Band)
  • January 28: End of First Semester
  • January 31: No Middle/High School: Grading Day
  • February 1: Start of 2nd Semester

Second Winter Season - Athletic Updates

  • Boys Basketball begins Wednesday, January 12. Practice will be in the Main Gym and AUX Gym from 2:30 to 4:30.
  • Girls Soccer begins Wednesday, January 12. Practice will be on the football/soccer field from 2:30-4:30.
  • There will be more detailed information to follow from the Athletic Director, Dave Rumpza.
