Principal's Message

Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,

Three weeks down, and we are now seeing that our children are in a routine and feel comfortable in their new classrooms.

We are working on a permanent solution for our arrival and dismissal, but in the meantime, with the cooperation of our parents, staff and students, we are entering and leaving the building at a much quicker pace.

Regarding breakfast, if your child eats breakfast at home, please discourage them from attending breakfast at school. This week we had over 100 students attended breakfast daily at both Swift and Slaybaugh Elementary. The children are mostly certainly welcome to come to breakfast; however, the numbers are so large that we cannot get them in and out in a timely fashion; therefore, many of our students are missing a large portion of the first period of the day.

We hope everyone was able to attend our virtual Back to School Night. Despite not being able to welcome all our parents in person, the teachers felt that the event was well attended. We hope you found the event helpful and informative. A big Thank You to our Parents' Club, as they provided each child, K-3, with a “Snifty” pencil as a welcome back surprise.

Mrs. Lesser’s 3rd grade class was hard at work learning about arrays as a strategy to help them multiply! Students used counters and their favorite toy, POP-ITS, to help grasp the concept of rows and columns!

Spirit Day on Monday 9/27

Please send your student to school in EHT gear on Monday, September 27th in honor of our first (outdoor) pep rally of the year! If your student does not have an EHT shirt, feel free to send them in EHT colors, which are black and silver. Thank you for your support and school spirit!
