Athletic Director Notes:
FALL SPORTS HAVE BEGUN
The optimism and excitement that comes with a fresh start has arrived. Fall sports have begun and the feeling I get when I see PURPLE covering the gym, football field, weight room and cross country trails always reminds me of my "why'. Our young men, young ladies, and our coaches are hard at work. Proud of my Lady Warriors!

Cross Country prepares to defend back-to-back titles
25 athletes showed up for the first week of our pre-season training, which is a good number that could potentially increase when school begins. Our boys program has everyone back from our District Championship squad from last year as we set our sights on a 3rd consecutive title. Our girls are looking to rebuild and return to the post-season for the first time since 2018. Currently, we have enough girls participating to field a varsity and JV team. Our first meet will be on August 19th in Sulphur Springs (North Hopkins).
BHS Volleyball Report
Our high school volleyball practices began on July 31 and players spent the first four days going through an extensive evaluation process. After scrimmages at Commerce and Whitesboro, Coach Vanderburg felt good about the progress being made.
"We have 34 girls- 3 seniors, 4 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 18 freshmen. Compared to last year, I feel that the level of play on a whole program aspect is better. We have some solid freshman athletes that have helped with that. Our scrimmage days went well, saw some good things and of course things that need work. I saw a lot of hustle and effort from top to bottom and it was nice to see that we're buying in to going all out and learning that hustle plays can make a difference."
Annual "Meet the Warrior Night" was a success
Warrior Stadium was the sight of our annual "Meet the Warrior" tradition on August 5th. I know this tradition goes back to at least the early 80's and possibly farther, as all fall extra-curricular participants are recognized on the field in front of their parents and community members. It was definitely hot outside, but that didn't seem to affect the participation numbers or the crowd. Those recognized included, football, volleyball, cross country, cheer, drill team, band, warham, senior crew, student trainers, fishing team, and our coaching staff. The night was capped off with a short scrimmage by our football team.
