Hello Ride Families,

We started the week with Halloween and we are ending the week with the End of Daylight Savings Time. It was also early voting week with Election Day and Veteran's Day approaching. Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th. This is a student holiday throughout the district. We honored Veterans' Day on Thursday, November 2nd. It was a wonderful tribute to our Veterans by our 3rd Grade students. The district will also be celebrating Veteran's Day on November 11th @ 10:00am, Woodforest Bank Stadium. See below for more information.

Don't forget to "Fall Back" your clock one hour on Sunday, November 4th.

Four propositions for Conroe ISD’s Bond 2023 are on the November 7th ballot. If you have not had the opportunity to learn about Bond 2023, you can watch a presentation from Dr. Null and view details about each proposition at https://www.conroeisd.net/bond/

The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to put four propositions on the November 7th ballot for a bond referendum. If voters approve Prop A and any combination of Props B, C, and/or D on November 7, there is a 2-cent anticipated tax rate increase to Conroe ISD residents in 2024-2025. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as “the Great War.” Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

On this day, we honor all current and former members of the Armed Services. Our country’s

greatness is built on the foundation of your courage and sacrifice. Please Join us in a Salute to Our Veterans on Friday, November 9, at 10:00 AM at Woodforest Bank Stadium. Veterans in attendance will receive a Conroe ISD JROTC challenge coin as a small token of appreciation for their service.

This event will be livestreamed on the Conroe ISD YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for your family's support for the 2nd - 4th grade skating unit. It has been incredibly exciting to see our skaters grow in their confidence and abilities. Thanks to our helpful crew, our students' skate time has been maximized and we are seeing lots of students learn new skills! It looks like some kids will be adding skates to their wish list this year!

Volunteers are still needed to help children locate their pre-ordered skate size, "gear up" for safety, and help the skaters in general. Ms. Hodge and Mr. Hernandez will teach all the students. Volunteers will help reinforce the skills and support students one-on-one.

Conroe ISD Library Services enabled daily email notifications, so you are informed of the items checked out by your student. Daily emails will list the item(s) currently checked out. If the book(s) your student selected is not a good fit, please have your student return it to the campus library and choose a new title. If you have questions about the book(s), please contact the school librarian. Notifications for these daily messages can be managed in Parent Access Center (PAC). If you don’t have a PAC account, you will need to register for one to access the email settings. You can also view the item(s) your student checked out by logging in to Destiny Discover through your student's SSO account. You can further manage your student’s access to library materials by completing the Library Access Form found on the Library Services website along with viewing other helpful information. Please do not reply to this email as it comes from an unmonitored email account.

Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.

Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..

Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have two visitors every 3-4 weeks.This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.

Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college and at work.

What you can do:

• Avoid scheduling vacations when school is in session. They are considered unexcused absences.
• Build regular routines for bedtime and the morning
• Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before
• Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school
• Don’t permit missing school unless your child is truly sick. Use a thermometer to check for a fever. Remember that stomach aches and headaches may be signs of anxiety.
• If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to help your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
• Avoid medical appointments when school is in session.
• Keep a chart recording your child’s attendance at home. At the end of the week, talk with your child about what you see.
• Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Ask a family member, neighbor or another parent for help.
• Seek support from school staff or community groups to help with transportation, health problems, or no safe path to school.

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2 nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals will be accepted October 2- December 15, 2023. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage. Spring Testing window is January 22nd -26th
