Of the many blessings in life, friendship is one of God's greatest gifts. Our true friends often know us better than we know ourselves. They see beyond our faults and imperfections yet still love us no matter what. Friendship can also be challenging and sometimes messy. It can take a lot of work to keep some relationships both happy and healthy. Yet when times are tough our friends are the people who see us through. Good friends can disagree yet also be considerate of the other persons point of view. In your prayer time, be sure you tell God how grateful you are for these precious relationships in your life. Don’t take them for granted-

Open enrollment for the general Coppell community and surrounding areas, begins Tuesday, February 6. Any open class spaces not taken by our current families by February 1st will then be made available to the general community on a first come first served basis.

The Riverside Butterfly School Safety Team Appreciation Week was a huge success! I want to extend my gratitude for your kindness and generosity to these amazing volunteers who give of their time to help our school. We have some pretty creative parents here at school and it showed this week! Thank you!

On Thursday, January 18th, as part of our Riverside Church Butterfly School Safety Team Appreciation Week, we proudly dedicated our newly remodeled playground to Mr. Bob Monroe. It was delightful to see so many family and friends from our community and church come to celebrate him. Mr Bob has demonstrated his commitment in our community, Riverside church and our Butterfly School Board with nearly 30 years of dedicated service. In 2011, Mr Bob initiated our Safety Team, safeguarding students and parents as they drop off and pick up from school. This honor is truly well-deserved in recognition of his integral role in shaping Riverside Church Butterfly School. Thank you Mr. Bob.

Each month our specials teachers post highlights of what is happening in their classes.

In January we heard Bible stories about obeying . Noah obeyed God and built an Ark and God promised not to flood the earth again with a rainbow. Children made their own arks and colored them in art class. In February we will be hearing Bible stories about being strong and courageous with God's help. Children will be reminded of God's love for them through David and Goliath and Daniel in the Lion's Den. We continue to use songs and activities to bring our bible stories to life! This month's Bible Memory Verse is Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous ".

For the month of February everyone will be focusing on opposites in music; fast/ slow, loud/ quiet, high/ low, smooth/ bouncy, etc.

We will continue to work on songs for our end of year performance and reinforce the ideas of love and joy! Thank you for sharing your littles with me!

In art class we learned about a new artist Piet Mondrian and his use of primary colors and geometric elements. The Piet Mondrian snowman was one of the examples that the students exhibited his works. In February, we will focus on a new artist Jim Dime and his use of hearts in his artwork.

We had the best time playing our life sized game of El Mundo de Dulce! (Candy Land) It was a fun way to practice our colors and shapes. For February we will work on learning words for Las emotional. (emotions)

We are ready for a new month in Sign Language. This month we will learn signs for foods we enjoy eating! Hopefully, you'll start to see your learner communicate with a few signs.

The new year brings new exciting things in the library! We'll start the month learning how to choose good fit books to read and at the end of the month, we'll start checking out books from the library. Get ready to start reading library books with us at home!

In science this month we will explore surface tension by blowing bubbles in different liquids, chemical reactions while baking, and how different surface textures affect the distance a marble will roll. Fantastic February!!
