A Message from our STEAM Teachers...
Hello Families!
We're off to a great start in our STEAM classes this year! Students are already diving into some great projects, and we need your help! Our Maker Carts are always in need of some supplies to keep it stocked. While we have almost all of what the students need, there are some great additions and donations that we will gladly accept any time:
- empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls (We use SO many of these!)
- bottle caps
- buttons
- beads
- fabric scraps
- ribbon
- miscellaneous craft materials
- plastic recyclables (yogurt containers, medicine bottles, etc)
- anything else you think kids can be creative with!
Please send these items in at any time during the school year in a bag labeled STEAM. Your child can drop it off in our classroom or the office. Thank you so much for your help - we love seeing how creative our students can be!

Carpool Lane Reminders...
How to use the Carpool Lane Safely:
When turning into the parking lot, please create 2 lines of traffic.
When you get to the top of the parking lot, near the trash cans, please ZIPPER MERGE into one lane of traffic.
Please pull all the way forward before stopping to allow your child into the car.
Please see the map below for more information about how and when to ZIPPER MERGE.

DAD’S CLUB
The first meeting of Dad’s Club is Wednesday, October 11 from 6:30-7:30pm in the Silver Springs MPR (cafeteria). Up first, the guys plan to focus on:
-helping out with Trunk or Treat,
-installing a new Gaga ball pit on the Silver Springs playground, and
-other fun things for the year!
It’s not too late to join Dad’s Club! You can sign up here, or just show up to the first meeting on 10/11/23.
Dad’s Club is an informal group of Silver Springs dads who simply want to get more involved with their kids’ school, hang with other dads, and have fun!
E-mail silverspringspta@gmail.com with any questions.
INVEST IN YOUR CHILD
Invest In Your Child is the primary fundraiser of the Silver Springs PTA where families simply make a one-time donation. Funds raised from IIYC cover most of the PTA expenses for the whole year!
Why do families love it?
• IIYC is back by popular demand because it is the easiest way to benefit our school and requires zero effort on your part.
• Since our PTA is a 501(c)(3), your donation is tax deductible!
• 100% of funds will benefit Silver Springs students, staff, and school. No third-party companies hogging fundraiser profits.
• PTA will not ask you to do more fundraising later in the year. No sales of candy, popcorn, or wrapping paper. No making your kid go door-to-door. No need to hit up friends and family for sponsorships.
• If families donate generously to IIYC, then PTA will be able to keep all the awesome programs and events going. It’s a one-and-done campaign.
Please donate here today or look for the flyer that will come home with your student the first week of school.
JOIN THE PTA!
The Silver Springs PTA wants YOU to become a member. Simply joining has a big impact – nothing more is required!
FACT: Joining the PTA does not obligate you to do ANYTHING. You don’t have to attend meetings, and you don’t have to volunteer… unless you want to! You get to decide how much to participate, a little, a lot, or not at all.
FACT: The PTA welcomes anyone and everyone (parents, guardians, grandparents and staff) to become members.
FACT: Simply joining and paying the membership fee helps the PTA accomplish goals and fund the programs we run all year.
What does the PTA do?
Silver Springs PTA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization that enriches education, builds school community, plans fun events and supports teachers.
These are just a few of the awesome things the PTA does:
· Plans events like Trunk or Treat, Gal with a Pal, Son Plus One Fun, Breakfast with a Buddy
· Creates a student yearbook
· Creates and distributes a student directory to every student
· Sells Silver Springs spirit wear
· Organizes the School Tool Box program
· Coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week
· Provides meals for staff during conferences
· And so much more!
Please join here today or send in the form that came home with your student during the first week of school.
SPIRIT WEAR
The Silver Springs PTA has launched our fall sale of spirit wear! Please place your order here by Sunday, September 24. All orders placed before 9/24/23 will be delivered to Silver Springs and sent home with your child in October.
BIRTHDAY LUNCHES
The Birthday Lunch program is a fun way to celebrate your child’s special day and the funds raised from this program directly benefit PTA programs. Win-win!
On your child’s day, you can come and join them for lunch! Some parents choose to bring a special lunch or a treat. You get to sit at the Birthday Lunch table near the MPR, which will be decorated with a festive tablecloth and birthday napkins.
The easiest way to sign up and donate is online. Or, look for the flyer that will come home with your student the first week of school.
Please sign up for this program with as much advance notice as possible.
Book now to get your spot, even if your requested date is later in the year. The schedule fills up fast! Last year, we had 140 birthday lunches over the year!
Also, if you need to cancel due to illness, etc., please notify Kate Rundell at silverspringspta@gmail.com. Our volunteers arrange their schedule to be there and it’s very frustrating to have a no-show.
CHESS WIZARDS
Chess Wizards is the coolest chess class on the planet! Silver Springs PTA has arranged for this awesome class to be offered at Silver Springs on Wednesdays in room B2 (formerly Spanish room). The class has 10 sessions and tuition is $185 per student. Please see the flyer for more details. Sign up at www.chesswizards.com.
Note: when your child is signed up for Chess Wizards, please notify your child’s teacher that their dismissal plan has changed for those dates. Students go straight to Chess Wizards in room B2 when the bell rings at 3:45pm.
