Dear Families,

This morning around 11:15, the fire alarm went off in the building. I apologize that I was not able to share communication with you before your child went home today. The AHFD arrived quickly and determined that a fault in the system caused the alarm to go off. D25 is already working on the issue so that it hopefully doesn't happen again. Our staff and students did an amazing job exiting the building quickly and calmly. Please praise your child for listening and following the directions of their teachers. We know that an unexpected alarm may create strong emotions of fear and/or worry, our staff took great care in supporting students that may have been upset. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns.

"Erin’s Law, Illinois Public Act 097-­1147, requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for students in early childhood through twelfth grades. During the week of October 23rd, 2023, our school social workers (Mrs. Peterman & Ms. Hemzacek) will work with each grade level to provide age ­appropriate information. Erin’s Law information and curriculum information can be found in this slideshow. The optional opt-out form can be found on the District’s website."

Today we celebrated our student's positive behavior choices with Fine Arts - Fall Fun. Each grade level participated in different activities that included: leaf tracing, nature sketching, writing, dancing, reading or creating a chalk mural (that was quickly washed away by the rain!).

If your child is interested in joining a club, please make sure to sign up with the PTA. The majority of clubs are run through the PTA. You will find club information in The Twig (the PTA weekly newsletter) or on the PTA website that is linked at the bottom of the Smore.

Our facility management team will start the transition from Air Conditioning to Heating Mode next week. The changeover process will take a little over a week to complete. During this transition period, building temperatures may fluctuate. We kindly ask you to send your children with an extra layer to ensure comfort in potentially cooler indoor temperatures.
