Key Project Updates
Anticipating budget shortfalls from business closures/loss of sales tax, discretionary spending was cut; plus10% pay cuts for all city employees. (see Blog on website for more info) WHY? Early budget impacts will not be known until July due to typical 2-month lag in receiving sales tax. We turn our attention to Economic Recovery activities working w/State + Regional Partners. WHY? Partnership connect local businesses with resources to speed return to normal. Pre-exit interview with State Auditors regarding petition audit recommendations provides early first look at comments, more later. WHY? Audit team presents recommendations for discussion, next will begin report preparation. CCPHC announces Stay At Home Order to be lifted May 3rd, looking forward to taking a step forward. WHY? Re-opening will come in phases to prevent relapse. COVID-19 assistance planning will begin this week w/Clay County & Cities as we assess how best to use resources to aid health and economy. Municipal Court Amnesty during May provides active ES warrants holders opportunity to resolve charges w/o fear of arrest. Upon surrendering, bonds will be lowered to $100 Cash.
