Bilingual Seals

Would you like to earn college credit for knowing how to speak, listen, read, and write in another language? Register for the Bilingual Seals Exam by April 30.

Minnesota Bilingual and Multilingual Seals were legislated in the Learning English for Academic Proficiency and Success (LEAPS) Act in 2014. Minnesota public school districts, charter schools, and non-public schools may award Minnesota bilingual and multilingual seals to high school students, in grades 10, 11, or 12.

• The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate the proficiency of a language through 4 modalities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing

• Many languages are offered

• The length of the test is about 2 ½ hours to complete all four domains

• The levels of proficiency include Platinum, Gold and World Language Certificate

The following students should consider taking the assessment:

• Students whose first language is not English
• English Language Learners
• Students studying a world language

Friday, May 14th

Assessment will take place at both North and Tartan High Schools for in-person learners. The assessment takes approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete.

Students in distance learning will take the assessment virtually.

More information will be shared with all students taking the assessment as it becomes available.
