Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- Enjoy this special Thursday edition of the Falcon Flyer. No school for students tomorrow, Friday Oct. 13, as staff will be working on our school improvement goals and district initiatives. This is an important day for us because over the course of a school year we have very little time to work together as a whole staff.
Homecoming week has been living up to the hype and energy. We kicked off HOCO Monday with a spirit assembly and dress up days all week. After school we had many sporting events including hosting our first ever home cross country race. Senior recognition nights are already happening which means our home games for fall sports are already coming to an end (pictured with senior cross country athletes). We’ve got a great volleyball match tonight vs University and inviting U-high back again Friday for our football game. Make your plans now to attend the pre-game tailgate, enjoy a competitive game, half-time will be showcase of amazing Ridgeline talent with Cheer, Dance, and the Regiment all performing! If that wasn’t exciting enough, we’ll be announcing our Homecoming Royalty Court who will make a processional lap around the track in five classic automobiles courtesy of Susan Freund and her people!
Saturday night we host the Homecoming dance, and we have issued over 1000 tickets! So that’ll be a good time! Please remind your teens to make “good choices” Saturday before, during, and after the homecoming dance.
On the academic side of school life, we are half way through the first quarter. Students and teachers have gotten to know each other. As a good rule of practice, if you or your student has questions for their teacher or a potential issue arises, please reach out directly to the teacher. Your student should always be encouraged to go to their teachers as that usually takes care of about 95% of classroom matters.
A special message for parents with middle school and elementary school students, please review with your kids: Home football games at Ridgeline are special. I love the game-time atmosphere and enjoy the community and home-town feeling of these nights. It’s especially satisfying to see our elementary/middle level students excited to be there and excited to look forward to high school as a Ridgeline Falcon! It’s a fun, family event for all. A natural phenomenon that exists is that middle schoolers, in particular, have almost no interest in the game itself. It’s a social event. They don’t want to sit with parents, and quite frankly, maybe parents don’t want to sit with a bunch of middle school kids either. So… they get in their pack and run around, which can cause some safety concerns and occasionally lead to drama of some kind. Here’s a couple of guidelines and info to be aware of before Friday’s game.
1. It is encouraged that a parent or responsible adult attends with middle/elementary aged kids. AND it is encouraged that middle/elementary students sit in the stands.
2. Large groups of students gathered in the area in front of the concessions/bathrooms will be asked to move.
3. No football throwing, tag, chasing, running in this area as well. Footballs will be confiscated and returned after the game.
4. Students may be escorted back to their parents/or adult if a supervisor has an issue with them. They may also have to call for a ride home.
5. Maybe most importantly-- attendance at a high school event is a privilege, not a right. You are a guest, and should act accordingly.
Let’s keep having fun and keep it safe!
Thank you, make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Veterans Day Honor Wall
2023 Ridgeline HS Veterans Honor Wall
We would like to honor the veterans in your family during Veterans Day next month. We have a few questions and you can upload a photograph of your family members and closest friends who have served. These vets will be honored during the assembly and throughout the week on our video screens in the Commons.
You can only fill out one form, but each form can accept up to 5 veterans. We are requesting students and staff to fill out information for one veteran, but you can add up to four more if you have a lot of service history in your immediate family.
Photographs in uniform are wonderful, but it is not required that uploaded photos are of someone in their uniform. Please complete submissions by Thursday, November 2nd so we can include your honorees in the assembly the following week. Thank you for helping us honor those who you are close to. Veterans Day is an important day to celebrate our service men and women.
