Westwood Junior High
November 30, 2023
Dear Westwood Families,
With a few short weeks until the end of the semester, our faculty, staff and administration wish all of our families a healthy, safe and happy holiday.
Before all is finalized your students are taking exams in two weeks, beginning Monday December 18th, for which they are well prepared by their teachers and the high quality instructional environments they designed.
Do not forget to send your student with a fully charged Chromebook and charger each day as the semester exams are online and may not be printed.
Please mark your calendars for the change to the school hours Wednesday December 20th and Thursday December 21st to 8:15am-12pm. Lunch will be provided to go for those students wanting it.
We are very proud of the work that has been accomplished here during the first semester at Westwood in the classrooms, at performances, on the field, on the court and in the community. We continue to be very honored to serve this community and the students.
We encourage your feedback as we work to collaborate and engage with parents to meet our goal of communication that is proactive, timely and relevant. You can access our newsletters in your email inbox, Westwood Twitter & Facebook pages, school website and PTA platforms. If there is additional information you would like to receive in our newsletters, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Katie Mottram
Westwood Principal

MST Ed Talks
Do you know someone who is interested in presenting at our Math, Science & Technology Ed Talks on January 25? It's an exciting day for our students where they will be able to attend presentations instead of their Math, Science, and CTE classes for the day to get a better understanding of how they will use the skills they are learning in the classroom in their future careers! It also allows our students to explore different careers that they may have never heard of and broaden their horizons as they head into High School to start making life changing decisions!

Weather Watch
As it gets colder and the potential for inclement weather increases, please ensure your contact information on file with RISD is up to date.
In the event of inclement weather that may require classes be delayed or canceled, parents and employees will be notified directly by telephone, email, and text message before 6:00 a.m.
In addition, parents can check the RISD homepage, the district Facebook page or the district Twitter feed. The district also notifies local media outlets of closures or delays.
Parents, employees, and students should assume a normal school day unless a telephone message is received or the RISD website or media outlets indicate closure or delay. RISD does not send notifications stating that school is open or operating on a normal schedule.
