Ranger Report
December 15, 2024
Hello Ranger Families,
On this last day of school before winter break, I wish you and your family happy holidays! Enjoy the season, connect with what matters most to you and may your new year bring joy and happiness.
Although rest and rejuvenation should be a priority, winter break is also a great time to get caught up with missing school work. When we return on January 2nd, students will have five weeks and two REID days before the end of the semester. Please create a plan now to complete practice work and to meet with your teacher to understand the assessment retake process. We are all committed to ensuring best outcomes for all of our students.
-Go Rangers.

A Message from the Oregon Department of Education
The Assessment Team is committed to developing a balanced approach to our assessment system over the coming years, including support for formative assessment practices, interim/benchmark assessments, and summative assessments. Oregon's Statewide Assessment System (OSAS) currently includes summative assessments administered annually by subject matter and grade. Pursuant to federal and state accountability requirements, Oregon public schools test students in English language arts and math in grades 3 through 8 & 11 and science in grades 5, 8, & 11. Additional required assessments include an English language proficiency assessment for English learners (ELs) and the Oregon Extended Assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities. These summative assessments used for accountability are customized for the needs of Oregon students; test development for these assessments has included Oregon teachers in all feasible aspects (e.g., item development, scoring rubric validation, standard setting).

Classrooms are Cell Phone Free Zones
Life is full of distractions that keep us from performing our best.
Our expectation is that classrooms are cell phone free zones.
The classroom is a space for learning and engagement in preparation for a student’s next step in life. Join us in fostering this commitment to learning by:
Talking with your student about their cell phone use in school.
Be prepared to set limits and to collaborate with school staff in making learning a priority.
