The AVID Elective Classes
More information...
Founded in California in 1980, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program designed to support students in their efforts to take rigorous courses and become college ready.
Part of our AVID program here at Tapp is the AVID Elective Course which features small group tutoring, assistance with organization and study skills, college tours (virtual this year!) and more.
Here’s more information on the AVID Elective from the AVID Website:
"To address this need, AVID has developed the AVID Elective course. For one period a day, students receive the additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in their school’s most rigorous courses… Additionally, in middle school, the language and literacy needs of long-term English language learners can be addressed through the AVID Elective Class.
We currently offer our AVID Elective class in 7th and 8th grade during Connections time.
