Welcome Back Students and Families!
Hello School District of Beloit Families,
I look forward to having all our students back in school on Thursday, September 1. The staff has been preparing for the first day of school and is ready to ensure your student has a successful year.
As the newly appointed Interim Superintendent, I am extremely excited to learn as much as I can about the School District of Beloit and the individuals that make up the school staff, student body, and community. I believe in the power of communication and how important it is to keep people informed about what is happening within our District, and listen to individuals and hear their thoughts and ideas about where we are and where we hope to be as the year progresses.
To stay connected with you, I will share a weekly blog through email, text, the Interim Superintendent’s webpage on our website, or our SDB App. This week’s blog is about Giving Your Best, Getting The Best. If you missed my first two blogs, Preferred Methods of Communication or The Lives We Impact, you can access them on my webpage.
I plan to spend as much time as possible in our school buildings connecting with students and staff during the next few weeks. You will often see me during drop-off or pick-up, so be sure to introduce yourself and say hello; I look forward to meeting you. If you want to reach out to me regarding your student or school, or have an idea or question you would like to ask, please feel free to email me, Email Dr. Anderson. I am always happy to respond.

We have enhanced our breakfast and lunch meals with new selections and larger portions. With an emphasis on nutritious and flavorful options, we have six hydroponic gardens in our district with one at our Operations Center and the others at Gaston, Merrill, Hackett, Todd, and Converse. These gardens will grow lettuce, basil, parsley, dill, chives, and cilantro to incorporate in our school meals. If you would like your school to participate in this program, please reach out to your student's principal.
Our elementary school students will be excited to know that we have added Annie’s Frozen Yogurt to the menu on Fridays as part of our free and reduced lunch program. There is no charge for this selection.
Our intermediate and high school students will be able to add a soup selection to complement their meal at no charge. We will also offer all white meat chicken and 100% beef burgers in larger portion sizes, pizza’s will be six generous slices, and pasta and rice will be increased to 2oz portions.
You can easily access all breakfast and lunch menus on our website.

School Security Update
Our number one priority is the safety, security, and well-being of our students, families, and staff.
In 2020, the School District of Beloit began using the Raptor Visitor Management System. The Raptor system allows us to better monitor visitors, contractors, and volunteers who enter our schools.
Upon entering any district building or school, all visitors will be required to sign in and present a picture ID. Acceptable IDs include state-issued IDs such as a driver's license, a passport, or a consular card. The ID will be scanned into the Raptor software system.
This protocol follows Board Policy 860, Rule 1, which states, "any person other than a student or district employee is regarded as a visitor and must report to the building's office for authorization before going anywhere in the school building."
Thank you for your cooperation and support of our safety protocols.
Director of School Health - Michelle Babillius

Student Chromebook Repairs and Replacements
Families and guardians will have the opportunity to get their student's Chromebook repaired or replaced before the school year starts. This also applies to rising 4th graders who still need a Chromebook assigned to them.
Until the first day of school on September 1, families and guardians can contact their child's school to request a repair or replacement. After reporting the lost/damaged Chromebook to the school's Secretary, the family member or guardian can drop off the damaged Chromebook to the main office at their child's school. A new one will be available to pick-up after 10:30 am the following business day.
Please make sure to ask the Secretary what their school hours of operation are, as not all schools have the same hours during the summer. As a reminder, we do not charge any fees or penalties for lost/damaged Chromebooks unless the damage was done maliciously. Any new student (who did not attend the SDB during the 21-22 school year) will have a Chromebook assigned to them once school is in session.
