A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
Welcome back to the 22-23 school year! We are officially underway! Even though this has been a short week, it has been filled with warm smiles, hugs, connections, and fun! Seeing our classrooms and hallways filled with students again has brought joy back into our building. :)
As we've begun to transition into our routines for the year, as a reminder, today was the final day for parents to walk their children into the building for class. On Monday, we ask that you hug and kiss at the door and allow your child to walk into the building independently.
Thank you so much for your patience this week during our dismissal process. Each day will get better and better. One thing that will help dismissal go even smoother in the car line is to ensure you have your green car tag displayed in your windshield when you arrive for pickup. These were distributed at Meet the Teacher night, but if you need a new or additional one, please complete the form linked below. After next week, we will ask the vehicles who don't have one displayed to pull around to the front of the building to check out through the front office.
Also, don't forget that on the Schluter website (schluter.nisdtx.org), there is a button to submit a ride change as well as to report an absence. It may be tempting to email the teacher about a ride change, but during the day our teachers are teaching and often are not able to access their email until after school. We want to ensure we send your child home the right way safely. By completing the ride change form, this will help us do just that. The ride change forms are processed through our front office, and our awesome office ladies get that information to each teacher prior to dismissal. Don't forget that these must be submitted by 2:00pm. If an emergency happens, please call our front office at 817-698-3900.
I know you've heard me say how excited I am about this year, but I can't help but say it again. I'm so excited about this year! It is going to be the best year ever because we have the best students, families, and staff anyone could ask for!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams
Please review the map when making a ride change for your students. Intermediate walkers dismiss out the 4th/5th grade hallway and exit to Prairie Breeze while Primary walkers dismiss out the Kinder/1st grade hallway and exit to Mesa Crest near the park. Your students grade does not indicate which exit they need to take, just where you meet them.

To change your preferences, just log into ParentSquare and click your name at the top right of the screen. From there, click “My Account,” then “Notification Settings” on the left sidebar. The instant feature will send you all communication as soon as it’s posted by a staff member (this will result in more communication received), and the digest feature will send you an email at 6 p.m. with all communication from our campus (resulting in fewer messages at one time, unless a staff member has opted to send important information instantly). It’s all up to you how you receive our communication!
School Meal information for 2022-2023
All Northwest ISD students can charge up to 5 breakfast and lunch combo meals. Adults and children not enrolled in the district are not allowed to charge. After the charging limit has been reached, NISD students will receive a courtesy meal. A breakfast courtesy meal includes two pieces of toast with the students’ choice of milk, juice, and/or fruit. A lunch courtesy meal includes a sunflower butter & jelly sandwich with the students’ choice of milk, juice, and/or fruit. Courtesy meals must include fruit and meet combo meals guidelines.
Finally, if you meet certain economic requirements, be sure to apply for the free and reduced-price meal program. With federal funding no longer available to provide free meals at elementary and middle schools in Northwest ISD, it’s imperative that families in need apply for this program to keep receiving benefits should they qualify.
Free & Reduced Lunch Program
While the federal government subsidized a free meal program that Northwest ISD implemented for all elementary and middle school students last year, this program was not funded for 2022-2023. This means families who meet income requirements should apply for the free and reduced-cost meal program if they believe their children should qualify for these meals.
Students in this program receive one breakfast and one lunch combo meal daily for their free or reduced-cost price. Families can apply online or print out a paper copy of the form. Those who previously were accepted into the program will have a 30-day grace period to reapply.

- WHAT'S HAPPENING IN NISD -
Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year!
Please note that our staff, children, neighbors and friends will be getting back into their own school year routines. Remind kids to look before crossing the street. Please also be patient with us – some lunch lines, parking lot lines and transportation routes may take longer during the first few weeks of school, but these routines will become smoother and faster as the school year continues.
Reminder: Use “find it fast” for quick access!
