Hello SVDP Community,

With the help of the 4th grade, Mrs. Bruno, Ms. Jenks, and Father Roy, we hosted Ash Wednesday mass via livestream and embarked on our Lenten journey.

STAR test results are being sent home with your students today (on Monday for 7/8 Cohort A). The 2nd trimester is coming to an end on Friday, February 26th, and report cards will be received on March 5th (K -2 will get paper copies sent home with their student; 3 - 8 parents will receive an email to view the report card digitally).

Sister Dulce will be taking a leave of absence in the third trimester. We hold her and her family in our hearts and prayers and ask you to do the same. Stay tuned for more information on how we will keep foreign language in our curriculum during her absence.

Thanks to everyone for responding to our 3rd Trimester Survey. We are pleased to have over 90% of students on campus for the last trimester.

As promised, we have been working on bringing Scenario 1 of our Infection Mitigation Plan to campus beginning March 1st (the opening day of Trimester 3).

The big news is that K - 8 will be on campus five days a week (still under a modified day schedule). Again, this will begin on March 1st.

In the past two newsletters, we announced that beginning on March 1st (the start of trimester 3), your in-person learners would not be allowed to participate in distance learning during an unexcused absence. Our teachers have offered to waive this protocol for the week following Easter Break, April 12th - 16th. However, participation in this waiver requires that the students return home no later than Thursday, April 8th in order to begin their required 10 day quarantine.

Students utilizing this exception are expected to be in-person beginning April 19th. Students not in person on April 19th will not be allowed to distance learn.To return to campus on April 19th (or later if arrival home is after April 8th), your student must have completed the 10-day quarantine and provide negative COVID test results from a test administered approximately seven days after their return home. Test results should be emailed to administration@svdpsf.com.

Distance vs. in-person learning requires additional planning on the part of the teachers. If you plan to travel, please complete this quick questionnaire (click link or use the button below). This information will be distributed to the teachers so they know how many students to plan for in-person and via Zoom. If you are traveling, your responses are due March 19th to allow our teachers an appropriate amount of time to plan.

This week our 1st and 2nd graders, prepped and donated over 300 sandwiches for those in need. Thank you to our Parent Guild Community Service volunteers, the families, and students for continuing our support of those less fortunate.

March 4th and 5th are minimum school days so that teachers can host Parent/Teacher Conferences (virtual, of course). Different from our October conferences, these are upon teacher request. If your teacher feels a conference is needed, you will receive an email invitation to schedule. If you do not receive an email request, your teacher does not feel a conference is necessary at this time. As always, teachers are willing to discuss your child's performance and well being. Please email them directly if you feel there is an issue to discuss.

On December 17, 2020 a Health Officer Travel Order was issued that 1) instituted a mandatory quarantine of 10 days for anyone traveling, moving, or returning to San Francisco from anywhere outside the Bay Area with limited exceptions and 2) strongly discourages any non-essential travel within the 10-county Bay Area region.

• This includes travel outside the following counties: San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, Sonoma, Napa, Marin and Santa Cruz

  This requirement allows exemptions for medical professionals, first responders, official government business, and essential infrastructure work who must travel to perform their work. A limited number of other activities are also exempted including travel to receive medical care or travel required by a court order, like transferring custody of a child. People transiting through San Francisco International Airport on connecting flights and not staying overnight in San Francisco are not required to quarantine.
