This presentation will address the different types of bullying, how it’s affecting our youth, and preventative measures students can take. We empower and encourage students to change the culture of bullying and create a kindness culture instead. We also inform students about the legal consequences for bullying and how it can affect their future. This presentation will be given to 6-8th grade students on March 20.
There will also be a one size child/youth all black cap available for purchase as well that will fit our youngest Vipers better than the adult 39thirty. Please be sure to order the correct size on our website as we will not have extra hats on hand to exchange sizes.

Our Apex Obstacle Course event fundraiser and leadership program begins one week from Monday!
We love the amazing leadership and character-building portion of the Apex program as it focuses on developing student self-control and interpersonal skills that are vital for school and life success. With this year’s #ApexXFACTOR theme, students will embark on an incredible two-week quest in search of the key to becoming great leaders, learning to dream big, and making a positive impact on the world. These quick, engaging lessons tie in with our school’s vision and mission, encourage students to create a positive environment, and inspire them to lead by example.
The Apex Obstacle Course event will be held on March 9.
More info on how to make a pledge to support our school will go home next week!

PBIS Rewards
PBIS Rewards continues to be a huge success at SV this year and your students love to spend their PBIS Rewards points at our school store. If you are interested in donating to our PBIS store, we have a PBIS Store Amazon Wishlist. You can also drop off any donation items to our office - new/gently loved stuffed animals are always a popular item.
Help stock the PBIS Store Rewards Store by purchasing Rewards directly on Amazon. If you purchase from our PBIS Rewards wishlist it will ship directly to campus and our kids can purchase immediately. Stock our store here:

Help our Health Office
The Health Office could use your help. We need assistance in restocking our clothing cabinet. We are in need of donations of NEW underwear for boys and girls- sizes extra small, small, & medium. If you are doing any spring cleaning, we can take any gently used, athletic-type shorts, shirts, and leggings for girls and boys in all sizes. This will help us get students back to class faster after an accident. Thank you for supporting our students!

Mindfulness Monday Challenge of the Week
The energy you have directly impacts how you show up each day. Consider for yourself: When you're burnt-out, how enjoyable is live? How effective are you at what you do? How about when you are full of energy? The answer is obvious: The more energy you have, the better the day is. Yet, many of us go through our days like zombies. Hitting the snooze button five times upon waking. Dependent on coffee to get out of bed. Addicted to our screens. Drained upon arriving home, with little energy to give to life outside of school or work. If you could take action to live with greater energy each day...would you? This isn't about the energy you feel each day. It's about what you can do when you show up in the world with greater vitality. And, what the experience of doing those things feels like. Everything you do influences your energy in some way. But here are four fundamental behaviors that impact your energy and mood: sleep, nutrition/fuel, movement, and breathing.
This week, try these mindful energy management tips:
- See clearly where you're at: Take time to honestly assess your current state. What's working for you? What's not?
- Be kind to yourself: No matter where you're at, all that matters is how you move forward from here. Stay focused on the next step forward!
- Start paying attention: Maintain awareness of your energy, and the physical sensations in your body throughout the day. This helps you be mindful of when your energy shifts, and identify what might be creating those shifts.
- Have fun experimenting: In In order to figure out what works best for you, you have to be open-minded to new ideas. When you try new ideas, you can assess the results, and try different approaches in the future. Approaching energy management with a spirit of playfulness makes it an exciting adventure. Like a detective, you’re tasked with solving the mystery of what helps you have the best energy each day.

- For those who are interested in volunteering in classrooms and/or attending field trips, you will need to attend a one time district volunteer training (class locations and times can be found at www.dvusd.org).
