August 21, 2022
The 2022-2023 School Year Starts On Monday!
Dear Carman Families,
On Sunday, Aug. 21st from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., all of our Carman families are welcome to stop by the school and "Chalk the Walk" -- sidewalk chalk will be provided and we would love to see your Carman Trails Welcome to School artwork and school appropriate messages!
Additional dates and upcoming events can always be found at the end of the Paw Print issues.
We can't wait to have our students back in the building tomorrow Monday, August 22nd!
With CT Pride,
Allison
Walking Your Child In On the First Day of School?
We anticipate a lot of cars on the first day. If you are not able to find a parking spot on the school lot, you are welcome to use the parking lot at First Free Church (corner of Weidman and Carman Rd) and then walk over to the school. Students are able to enter the building at 8:45 am each day. Please note the carpool line moves continually and if you are looking to walk your child in, you will need to park either at First Free Church or the Carman Trails' parking lot.
We are asking that everyone have their ID with them each time they enter the school. Don't forget your visitor badge (nametag) you received at Meet the Teacher. All visitors and parents will need to have a badge to enter the building. Please have this displayed on your shirt as you enter. You will also need your ID. We are sending this information in advance to help us provide a safe experience and to eliminate any confusion. If you have any questions, please call the front office at 314-415-6100.
All visitors will be asked to leave the classrooms at 9:05 am on the first day of school so we can begin our activities of the day.
Changes to How Your Child Gets Home
During the first week of school, please make sure your child knows how they are to get home. Feel free to write a note and place it in their backpack until they feel more comfortable with their schedule.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for Car Riders
We ask that you return the tags at the end of the school year.
Bus Rider Bus Information
The following information was sent by the Transportation Department.
If you opted for transportation for this school year, your family should have received communication on August 16 about your bus stop. Bus route information is available on the Parkway mobile app. Download the app and log in to access the bus stop location, pick-up and drop-off times.
Welcome to our 2022-2023 PTO Board Members!
On behalf of the PTO, we would like to welcome everyone back to school. We are excited for you and your child to be a part of our school family!
PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization and consists of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist in efforts to solve school needs throughout volunteering and funding.
We would like to introduce this year's PTO board members:
Emmy Kreinberg (Co-President) This is my 4th year on the PTO board and I'm looking forward to having a wonderful school year! I have two children at Carman, Cayden in 5th and Grayson in 3rd. I've been a special education teacher at South High School for 12 years. In my free time (ha!), I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and reading.
Danielle Peterson (Co-President) This will be my 2nd year on the PTO board and 3rd year as Book Fair Chair. I have two students at Carman, Logan in 5th and Quin in 3rd. I also have an 8th grader at Parkway South Middle. I love spending time with my family and our 3 fur babies. I enjoy watching my kids play sports (cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, and gymnastics). In my spare time, I love reading, crafting, and being outdoors with my kids.
I’m Kathryn Combs (Vice-President), parent to a first grader at Carman Trails. I am a private reading tutor specializing in Dyslexia. In my free time, I enjoy hanging with my family either around the house, getting out to go camping, or anything outdoors. I am excited to serve on the board and look forward to getting to know the community here!
Carly Began (Secretary) This is my 2nd year on the PTO board and I'm looking forward to in-person events and meeting new families! I have two students at Carman - Joseph in 4th and Thomas in Kindergarten. I work full-time from home as a Marketing Project Manager for a graphics company on the east coast. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and pets (we have 2 cats and 1 dog). I also love traveling, and attending St. Louis sporting events - Go Cardinals and Blues!
Kimberly Klick (Treasurer) I am excited for my first year as Treasurer of the Carman Trails PTO. I have two daughters that can’t wait for the new school year, Natalie (4th) and Hannah (K). I am an accountant with the Grants Management Office at BJC and in my spare time I volunteer for a local nonprofit, Arts For Life, as well as choreograph musicals for area community theaters and high schools.
Amber Slater-Raymond (Co-Volunteer Chair) This is my first year on the PTO. I have a fifth grader, Samantha (Sam). I am the Coordinator for the Cecille R. Hunt Gallery at Webster University. I am also a freelance art installer at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation and Laumeier Sculpture Park. In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and Sam. We enjoy many of the amazing activities St. Louis has to offer. I am a huge music and art fanatic and enjoy going to many gallery openings and concerts.

I have 2 sons; Brennen (24) who graduated from KU last year and is an architect in Kansas City and Cash (9) who is in 4th grade at Carman Trails. I am the Production Art Director at Weissman Theatrical and have worked there for 14 years. My husband, Cash and I enjoy attending many many sporting activities that Cash is involved in, and when we have spare time we love heading to the Lake of the Ozarks for relaxation and water activities.
