Over the summer we offer what we call the WHAT NOW WORKSHOPS. These are an opportunity for us to provide “drop in” theater classes on topics we traditionally don’t cover during our youth company season. These classes have covered subjects such as audition technique, scene study, puppetry, dance, musical theater styles and more. We also use these as a way to welcome students who may not be sure if they want to commit to a full season long company, but still get to know us and the work we do.
Also during the summer we will be hosting our FRESHPLAY FESTIVAL 2023. This is the culminating celebration for our Playwriting Lab students. We would love to have any prospective students attend this that are interested in learning more about what we do.
Our in-season programs are the PERFORMANCE LAB and our PLAYWRITING LAB. Both of these programs will have their auditions in mid-October, 2023.
In our Performance Lab, students will learn skills in writing, acting, and devising theater. They will play theater games and work through writing exercises. The program culminates in UNCENSORED, the end-of-year performances.
Playwriting Lab will cover the foundations of playwriting, responding to prompts, making revisions, and hearing their work in a warm and supportive setting. Both ensembles meet once a week, starting in the fall, and continue to meet through the late spring.
